Holding memories and information for all to use

To achieve consistency and some level of productivity in our lives I guess there is a central place where information and memories are stored from when we are switched but not amnestic of the time.

How does this work? I can't wrap my head around it. this part makes me doubt my DID is real but just something I have made up.

We have this. There is collective memory, alter memory, and general knowledge.

General knowledge is what everybody knows. It is safe memory that is needed to function in daily life. Then collective memory is only accesable by triggers and only to certain people. Alter memory is what each one of us holds. It is usually the trauma memory, but others can also hold the things that happened before and after the trauma that could trigger something really bad.

In our system this is called collective memory. It is mostly safe stuff, but it could trigger someone else. General knowledge doesn't trigger anyone.

hmmm thanks that makes sense. I feel better when i feel similar to someone else. I am not sure why maybe to help combat the "im making this all up" feeling.

I agree. I have the same problem, constantly. Especially when there's some overlap. I'll remember, wait, doesn't this belong to someone else? And then doubt sets in. It's good to see others who have similar feelings and thoughts

we have a central memory thingo too, our ISH oversees it and between her and our gatekeeper they can allow or stop the rest of us from getting to memories that we didn't already have. hm that's probably a bit confusing. like, they can't take away memories that i have from times that i was out, but they can stop me using the central memory to find out stuff that others remember from when they were out.

our main finds it easier when others are like her too. it helps.

I see what you are saying pheonixrise but I'm still confused. I guess the "rules" vary from person to person and I accept it is complex but I am still having trouble with it.
