music and switching

Postby illuminate.obscurity » Wed Dec 14, 2011 7:14 am

I had a amazing realization today. it was with music. i notice i, may always gets triggered by a certain song. even time i hear it i come out. like an automatic switch.. but ive noticed that it happens with others. one imparticular which i always thought was the core, whom has been sleeping. i now wonder if its just an another alter. i have caught note that while this one was out she always listened to a certain style of music.. maybe this is why she was out for so long compared to some?. She would play it all day long. anyways there has been a few to be triggered by music i've noticed. different genres depending on their taste. im not sure why music would be such a trigger to create the switches? i was thinking i cud download different cds for each. because i know many times a switch happens and the person wasnt ready to go persay. maybe if one wants to be out more or longer they could listen to their music ..maybe this would help them be out longer? im not really sure, or if that would work. was just a thought i had... any feedback?

Well, since literally anything (a sound, smell, object, etc.) can be a trigger, than it makes sense that one of your triggers for switching would be music. I don't have anyone to switch into, but depending on the music that's playing, my mood can entirely change. I have found that I can prolong certain moods by listening to certain types of music. Usually, it's movie soundtracks.

If a scene in a movie resonates with me, I will often go online and find the song that played during that scene, download it, and play just that song on repeat for who knows how long. Last time was after I saw the movie Breaking Dawn, and I downloaded the song that played at the end while Bella changed. That song was literally the only thing playing on my ipod for a solid week. :) It had the ability to make me feel joyful, but it also had the ability to make me lay in bed and cry for a really long time :(

The type of music you like says a lot about your personality. So...if you other personalities in you it would make sense that they may like different music than you do. Music brings out emotion, and alters are often all about emotion, or so I've heard  So if you think it will help them come out (and you want them out) I say go for it!

Personally i find tge my alter paige comes out more if music is playing she likes to sing along and stuff so music is defenatly a good one as everyone like different music for different reasons its like art or nature ifyou like it it something personal to you so its logical that alters will be more active wgen something they really like come in to play.

You can tell who's out in our system by what is coming from the speakers.

We have a ton of music on our computer. Self freaked out one day when she had it on shuffle. A certain Aerosmith song came up and she started getting hot, like a temp of 120 coming on quick. That song that I won't name here triggers Arabella bad. Self freaked out thinking she was sick, Jill took control, changed the music to classical, setteled things down a bit.

But if Theory of a Deadman is blasting, I'm the one out.

But it triggers us too which is why we each burn our own cds and don't shuffle music anymore.

I find that certain music I can really connect with emotionally and it definitly causes switches.
Its sort of like a cue. And the longer the music plays the longer certain parts would stay. So I can say yes for sure it helps with switching

Absolutely. I had to stop listening to the radio in the car for about 6 months because a whole lot of songs that in the past meant nothing to me suddenly became triggers. Now I am beginning to be able to hear them without being overwhelmed by emotions from insiders.

ya its weird seems like there is a million and one triggers in the environment and were just starting to understand a few. but i guess its also about learning what helps everyone in the system too. learning their needs and its hard to understand it all. seems confusing at times...
btw im not the original one who posted this ..was just insight i decided to add
