You need to tell this Doctor, I use the term Doctor loosely here, to come out of the dark ages into the 21 century , update their information on DID and treatment. I believe water dunking, leeches, and cure by fire went out some time back. If you did not have a care giver you are going to have to stand up and do this yourself. Simply you are going to have to tell this Doctor they are full of S#$% and tell them to update their knowledge base or go find another competent Doctor. This jackass has no right to put you through this and upset you. Stand up or be screwed as many with DID have been over the years by the mental health industry. Remember for a lot of people, with DID, it take anywhere from seven to ten years, many misdiagnoses before “THE Doctors” get their heads out of their behinds figure out what is the problem. As I said before they are playing with your life not theirs and will not suffer the outcomes if they &#$% up. Be brave, show courage and stand up for yourself with this Doctor if there are no others to do this for you. They are not gurus or gods but some may think so from time to time.

Yes, this would definitely be a clear sign of somebody who is misinformed. Or, someone who understands that DID may just not be an extremely rare disorder anymore.

I sincerely believe that there may be many out there living with DID who perhaps never realize it. With The number of dysfunctional families out there, I don't see how one could disprove this.
