Lighten Things Up! :D

Postby LinaeveWorkman » Tue Jul 26, 2011 12:48 am

I figured there's an art thread, why not a poetry thread?!

I absolutely love poetry, so this is kind of a selfish thing for me (I get to read more....weeeee!).

I doubt this will 'stick' for very long, but please feel free to post your poetry. If it is dark, or triggering, I ask that you write it big and large, so everyone will know! Thank you!

This is one of my favorites:

Peace

I had been worked to the point of madness.
Oh Mind! Relax against the azure sky.
Take peace from the cotton clouds,
And the seagull's giddy lullaby.

Do not the squirrels and little creatures so,
Work constantly, beneath the shade of pine?
They manage to take a moments peace,
Oh Heart! How they find a bit of time.

Throw down the chains that bind you,
Throw back your head, and scream to the silent night.
The stars will answer with a solemn twitch.
Oh Soul! Will you absorb the meager light?

They worked me to the point of madness,
my Mind rebelled. Oh Body! What we do to you!
Baptize me in your starry river fold,
So that I may come of this anew, anew!

And.........GO! :D

My goodness! Oh!
Can that be me?!
I used to be one...
But now I am three :-o
I feel like hiding.

Ah, great poems guys!
I just quickly translated one oldish poem of mine to English, but as I've noticed before I can't translate without rewriting it. It has some intentional literature references. Sorry for some really weak parts, but I'm not saying it's my best poem :P. Actually I haven't written very many poems.

Today, covered with black clouds
My eyes are nothing like the sun;
In the dark they see
That you are blind to me.
When I look at you
I see nothing new,
But if you look at me
My "I" becomes a "We".
On this side of my eyes
My troops will form and rise
Their swords, and on their blades
Shine a thousand suns.

Under ice - actually your poem is a great poem!!

I think I may have had an alter who wrote poetry, because I don't think I could write a poem to save my life, and it used to flow out of me like water. Now however, either the "poet" part of me has integrated, or gone dormant, because it's been years since a poem has bubbled up from the recesses of my mind. [hey, what do you know? maybe I'm a poet after all! ;)]

Anyhow, here are a couple really old ones. I had to weed through all the very dark and heavy ones to find some that were on the lighter side!

*****************************

The world it turns
all things in place
Where knowledge churns
and sweetness embraces
The pain is deep
but stays not long
From whence it goes
a song is sprung

******************************

Silent Breath

The clouds move in
the rain comes down
I watch it from my window clear
The lightning cracks
the thunder sounds
I'm safe and warm inside, my dear

The branches sway
The wind it cries
Yet no tear comes from my eyes
The rain comes down
it pounds the ground
My silent breath makes not a sound

***************************************

Kinda makes me miss this "poet" part... :?

Hmmm, the Internet ate my poem.

I've slipped once again
into my cavernous mind.
Drifted away from the light
into the twisting mine shafts.
In that dark place
I run my hands against the walls,
blindly splashing against the wet
rivulets of thought.
Lantern light, daylight
I seek it in lumbering steps.
I am no trogloxene.
I cannot live in this dark,
so I stumble and feel
my way forward
against the wet deluge of thoughts
and voices and doubts
hoping to one day
claim the light.

I don't know if it's good or not, but it made me feel better writing it so that works for me.

dudes i used to hate poetry but reading that stuff makes me like it...I don't know the first thing about poetry but I'll write a blurb that comes from the heart...

Pop! goes the string on my guitar,
I tightened it too far.
If I had been more patient,
The chord would not be vacant.

Vacancy! An empty space inside my soul.
I pray the chord will soon be whole.
And all the pain my fingers fear
Will soon be numbed by a peaceful tear.

Lol like I said not poetry but a bunch of words that hold a lot of meaning for me :P
None at this time

Wow... your words really touched me. Especially since I used to play the guitar (I taught myself how to play in high school/I wasn't very good but I loved it!).

My favorite line:
An empty space inside my soul.
I pray the chord will soon be whole.

Thank you so much for sharing this.

This is amazing, guys and gals!

Please keep this going, you all are very talented, even if you don't believe it at first! Poetry, I've learned, can really help others as much as it helps you writing it.

Here are two that are potentially triggering, so please read carefully. As you can see, I think I may have one or two alters who are poetically inclined because the style differs completely between these two and the one above. But who knows?! Not until I get to the T will I know lol! :D

Trigger warning*************************************************

Hero

He Dreams,
As he sits behind a pane
of tarnished glass.
His little hand gently
worries at
Grime.

In his young heart,
A Hero!
Trusting, ever Loving, his
Perfect Friend.
A mirror image of
the Man he is
Inside.

Cold mist collides
with white hot
Intense Need.
He Weeps.
The tears make trails
down the glass.

He Dreams.
His Hero!
Stark in Clarity.
Reaches out a hand.
His tiny hand
Engulfed.
He smiles at
his Hero.
His eyes filled with,
Hope.
His heart filled with,
Pain.
His head nods and suddenly,
he is
Awake.

His mind is filled,
with Awful
Truth.

A badge of Adulthood
on his tiny
Chest.

Sitting Pretty

A girl sits pretty,
in a lavish room.
A teapot, before her,
chairs, filled with lifeless
Eyes.
She sits pretty,
and Smiles.

A girl sits pretty,
with severed doll heads,
Grinning around her.
The table, Overturned.
Her dress, Ruined.
Those lifeless Eyes
Filled with Tears.

A mother appears,
and the girl sits
Pretty.
Her dress, Perfect.
Her room, Spotless.
And she
Smiles.
Even as a tear,
Slides down the exquisite
China,
of her Porcelain cheek.

I saw the light
On the border of day and night;
I knew its thirst for darkness,
I knew its hungry eyes
Were staring right into
What cannot be seen.
