I'd not heard the following song for a while and was listening to the album on my mp3 player the
other day. After several recent episodes of severe dissociation/derealisation/delusion resulting
in myself not believing anything was real, including my wife, son, house, the world and universe,
even myself, for hours at a time. I truly believed reality was about to dissolve and evaporate.
Since then, the lyrics and emotion of this song have taken on a very poignant new meaning to me.

'How to disappear completely' by radiohead.

That there, that's not me
I go where I please
I walk through walls
I float down the Liffey

I'm not here
This isn't happening
I'm not here, I'm not here

In a little while
I'll be gone
The moment's already passed
Yeah, it's gone

I'm not here
This isn't happening
I'm not here, I'm not here

Strobe lights and blown speakers
Fireworks and hurricanes

I'm not here
This isn't happening
I'm not here, I'm not here....

The first stanza in particular is freaky: You may ask yourself, "Well, how did I get here?" Good question. And the 1980's music video is even freakier.

Talking Heads - "Once In A Lifetime"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1wg1DNHbNU

You may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
You may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife
You may ask yourself, "Well, how did I get here?"

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

And you may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"
And you may ask yourself, "Where is that large automobile?"
And you may tell yourself, "This is not my beautiful house"
And you may tell yourself, "This is not my beautiful wife"

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

Same as it ever was, same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was

Water dissolving and water removing
There is water at the bottom of the ocean
Under the water, carry the water
Remove the water from the bottom of the ocean
Water dissolving and water removing

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, into the silent water
Under the rocks and stones, there is water underground

Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground

You may ask yourself, "What is that beautiful house?"
You may ask yourself, "Where does that highway go to?"
You may ask yourself, "Am I right, am I wrong?"
You may say to yourself, "My God! What have I done?"

Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, look where my hand was

Time isn't holding up, time isn't after us
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, hey let's all twist our thumbs
Here comes the twister

Letting the days go by
Letting the days go by
Once in a lifetime
Let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by

Bat For Lashes - Two Planets
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qYOk8-2fWY
"We are strangers in a strange land
Wanderers in a vast and unknowable universe."

Show me moonlight on the sunrise
I've seen so many planets dancing
I've seen too many people hiding

Show me sunset and I won't forget
That I am one of two planets dancing
I am one of two planets dancing

Shallow man
Sign your name
On my Sun

The song of Solomon
Died in the battleground
The song of Solomon
Died in love's battleground

I am full
Shattered by this sailing time
For all your suffering by night
Oh warm, but under bright

And life is so much dark and light
When day cannot exist without a night
And you are not separate from me
I am a heart that's full of life

And to be shared on this night
Feel my hands, feel my life
For the sun and the stars
Of my Mother and my sisters

I know where the form is changing
I know that the stars will follow me

Bolded parts are, in my opinion, the most relevant.
Actually, Bat For Lashes' whole album, Two Suns, is about her dealing with an alter ego, Pearl, who's blonde and hedonistic. It's pretty awesome stuff.

The Dresden Dolls - Half Jack
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPM94qqfP0M
Half underwater
I'm half my mother's daughter
A fraction's left up to dispute
The whole collection
Half off the price they're asking
In the halfway house of ill repute

Half accidental
Half pain full instrumental
I have a lot to think about
You think they're joking?
You have to go provoke him...
I guess it's high time you found out

It's half biology and half corrective surgery gone wrong
You'll notice something funny if you hang around here for too
Long ago in some black hole before they had these pills to take it back
I'm half Jill
And half Jack

Two halves are equal
A cross between two evils
It's not an enviable lot
But if you listen
You'll learn to hear the difference
Between the halfs and the half nots

And when I let him in I feel my stitches getting sicker
I try to wash him out but like she said: the blood is thicker

I see my mother in my face
But only when I travel
I run as fast as I can run
But
Jack comes tumbling after....

And when I'm brave enough and find a clever way to kick him out
And I'm so high not even you and all your love could bring me down
On 83rd he never found the magic words to change this fact:
I'm half Jill
And half Jack

I'm halfway home now
Half hoping
For a showdown
'cause I'm not big enough to house this crowd
It might destroy me
But I'd sacrifice my body
If it meant I'd get the Jack part OUT

See

Jack

Run...

The songwriter herself, Amanda Palmer, says that this song is about her relationship with her father, but in my opinion this sounds much more like someone who's having a really tough time with an alter.
(A side note: You Emilie Autumn fans might do well to check out The Dresden Dolls. DD-era Amanda was a lot like EA, but with a piano and more jokes, IMO.)

I enjoy dance. So this is kinda a twist, but i love watching different clips on U Tube that involve dance, especially 2 different kinds of dance together, yet blinded. And it reminds me of different parts of me, separate, yet uniting. I will list some of my fav's. U can just pull them up on U Tube 2, 2 watch.

David Bowie - When I'm Five

I don't have any 'normal' child parts, but with the knowledge what DID I got a new perspective on this song, and stirred some emotions in me.

She would never say where she came from
Yesterday don't matter if it's gone
While the sun is bright
Or in the darkest night
No one knows
She comes and goes

Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you...

Don't question why she needs to be so free
She'll tell you it's the only way to be
She just can't be chained
To a life where nothing's gained
And nothing's lost
At such a cost

There's no time to lose, I heard her say
Catch your dreams before they slip away
Dying all the time
Lose your dreams
And you will lose your mind.
Ain't life unkind?

Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you...

The Who - I Don't Even Know Myself

There's nothing in the way I walk that could tell you where I'm going,
There's nothing in the words I speak that can betray anything I'm knowing,
Don't think about the way I dress, you can fit me on a labelled shelf,
Don't pretend that you know me 'cause I don't even know myself,
Oh I don't know myself.

I don't mind if you try once in a while,
I don't mind if I cry once in a while,
The doors aren't shut as tight as they might seem,
I'm just trying to fight my way out of this dream.

Don't listen to the words I say, weighing up if I'm enlightened,
Don't shiver as you pass me by, 'cause mister I'm the one who's frightened,
The police just came and left, they wanted me and no one else,
Don't pretend that you know me 'cause I don't even know myself,
I said I don't know myself.

I don't mind if you try once in a while,
I don't mind if I cry once in a while,
The doors aren't shut as tight as they might seem,
I'm just trying to fight my way out of this dream.

Do you remember me, I don't remember you,
Do you still love me, you know I think you do,
I have been gone, and some prison warder knows my scream,
I'm just trying to fight my way out of this dream.

There's only five who know my real name,
And my mother don't believe they know it,
What she called me is the way I'm staying,
And no one'll ever know it,
Come on all of you big boys, come on all of you elves,
Don't pretend that you know me 'cause I don't even know myself,
I said I don't know myself.

I don't mind if you try once in a while,
And I don't mind if I cry once in a while.

This is Chibi, Kiddo, and I's song. (Because the young child and teenage ages fit them both)

"Never Grow Up" by Taylor Swift

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVTIZX5jR

Your little hand's wrapped around my finger
And it's so quiet in the world tonight
Your little eyelids flutter cause you're dreaming
So I tuck you in, turn on your favorite night light
To you everything's funny, you got nothing to regret
I'd give all I have, honey
If you could stay like that

Oh darling, don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up, just stay this little
Oh darling, don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up, it could stay this simple
I won't let nobody hurt you, won't let no one break your heart
And no one will desert you
Just try to never grow up, never grow up

You're in the car on the way to the movies
And you're mortified your mom's dropping you off
At 14 there's just so much you can't do
And you can't wait to move out someday and call your own shots

But don't make her drop you off around the block
Remember that she's getting older too
And don't lose the way that you dance around in your pj's getting ready for school

Oh darling, don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up, just stay this little
Oh darling, don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up, it could stay this simple
No one's ever burned you, nothing's ever left you scarred
And even though you want to, just try to never grow up

Take pictures in your mind of your childhood room
Memorize what it sounded like when your dad gets home
Remember the footsteps, remember the words said
And all your little brother's favorite songs
I just realized everything I have is someday gonna be gone

So here I am in my new apartment
In a big city, they just dropped me off
It's so much colder that I thought it would be
So I tuck myself in and turn my night light on

Wish I'd never grown up
I wish I'd never grown up

Oh I don't wanna grow up, wish I'd never grown up
I could still be little
Oh I don't wanna grow up, wish I'd never grown up
It could still be simple
Oh darling, don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up, just stay this little
Oh darling, don't you ever grow up
Don't you ever grow up, it could stay this simple
Won't let nobody hurt you
Won't let no one break your heart
And even though you want to, please try to never grow up
Oh, don't you ever grow up
Oh, never grow up, just never grow up

Confrontation from the musical Jekyll and Hyde has been one of Johann's favorite songs since I introduced him to the musical. Because any two of them can sing it together and not look crazy because it's Jekyll and Hyde. XD Especially Hyde's part, Jack and Johnny like to over-enunciate his part.
