After 5 years of therapy, there is still little cooperation in regards to switching. Our therapist says this is not uncommon considering numbers and the amount of external stress that has happened.

I have at least 3 shadowing me for the last 6 months or so (the best cooperation to date) and I find the headaches intensified for me around that time....

Clearly our therapist should be trusted more, we thought there had to be something other than switching causing these terrible headaches....probably not.

Has anyone found any medication that helps??

Sometimes I wake up feeling all right and then develop a massive headache in a couple of minutes before even getting up, and it's rather depressing. Mornings are the worst.
Feelings of helplessness and futile attempts to do something also cause me headache, and it's always worst in the forhead, so it's a little different from my migraine headache that focuses more around my eyes and temples. I haven't noticed any switching during my headaches, only my mood changes drastically. I have a prescription for naproxen for my migraine and so far it has helped rather well, I know that you can develop a tolerance though. Paracetamol is completely useless.

We have tried every over the counter and perscription medication there is....to NO avail. Occasionally, pot helps when it is really bad, but even then, it only takes the edge off. Our family physician says that if it works, use it. We make sure our wee ones are not exposed, but typically smoke one in evening, unless things are bad upon rising out of bed.

This is one of those things that we wish had a magic pill. A quick fix if you will. We are doing the work in therapy, but the headaches are discouraging, and exhausting....

Hi intentional-breather.

Headaches are way too common in my life as well! Regular painkillers work for me but I should be eating them 24/7 if I'd want to be totally headache free!

*
I have figured out that there're certain reasons that cause my headache:

1. an alter lets me know if I've understood her/him wrong
2. an alter lets me know if I've written wrong info about her/him (I have a list of my alters and their features written down)
3. an alter is trying to get my attention
4. headache comes allways after full switch - doesn't happen too often though
5. an alter is giving me body memory (I remember having constant headache during my teenage years)
6. overlapping chatter of 10 alters or so at the same time causes headache
7. being just simply too stressed out
8. an alter that is trying to get him/herself heard but lacks the strength
*

Here's just something that I know right now. I'll try to relax as often as I can, it seems to help with my headache a bit. :) At least one of my alter just said so! Maybe you could ask your alters? They seem to know quite a lot about my headaches - maybe yours would know too?

I hope you get your headaches to stop or at least get them less sharp! :/ It's a nasty thing to have!

EDIT. Oh, almost forgot to add one thing!
9. an alter is suffering of headache (I have many alters that have had that problem)

I've also noticed that when I realize what headache is mine and what is my alter's, the amount of headache decreases with all of us. :)
