Different headaches for Different alters?

Postby LuckyOphelia » Sun Dec 19, 2010 3:10 am

I was noticing a reduction in the number of switching headaches I'd been getting, but now they're picking up again. Particularly in the back of my head on the bottom right and it's just terrible. What I've noticed sometimes though, is that I'll get different headaches in different parts of my head and varying in intensity so I'm wondering if maybe different alters produce headaches in different parts of the head? I really wish there was a way to stop the headaches because this is unbearable and I'm starting to feel like I just can't take this anymore, any of it.

I can relate to the different headaches. One alter presents with a pain behind my right eye; another with a pain behind my left eye, etc. These usually occur just before they emerge. I also have alters that manifest in other parts of my body. Each has his or her own signature sensation.

I have begun paying attention to what their need/concern is when I feel the headache begin. Sometimes that helps.

Please don't give up. You can work through this.

Thanks for the reply, I'm trying to definitely concentrate more on bodily sensations I experience and especially the different headaches. Some headaches are so excruciating that it feels absolutely unbearable, and other times it's just like a dull ache. I think when there's more conflict going on inside, the headaches are a little worse. Or if I'm trying to keep present when I feel myself dissociating (I am starting to be able to tell now a bit :) ) then the headaches happen, especially if I'm having a conversation with them. Do you ever get somatic pain? That's worse than anything, I start screaming and writhing in pain so bad I feel like I need to go to the hospital, but a while back we figured out that it's just in our heads :(

If there's no current physical reason for it, maybe they're body memories? It's a flashback, but instead of seeing/hearing the memory, you feel it.

Canolime, I hadn't thought of that before, maybe your right. It kind of made my heart sink to think that could be happening because it's so scary. the thought of the pain being a body memory definitely seems highly possible now that you mention it. Even as I was writing this I started to get a weird god awful pain in my body in my toes and fingers...too weird.

You just make me realize, I may have a flashback of body memories. I have had a body pain for a while, first I thought I might be integrate.
I want to be able to accept "life" as it is.
I want to be able to understand what the life is.
I want to be able to find a peaceful mind in the whole world.
For on and on I just want to be a warm welcome home.
