Twitches?

Postby walden » Thu Nov 11, 2010 1:21 am

Just speculation, but does anyone have any nervous twitches? I have always had some nervous twitches- left eye blinks quickly, shoulder jerks, etc... When I was young it was really bad, but it seems to get better with age. Any thoughts on how it might relate to DID? Maybe its more related to PTSD?

I have a nervous tic. When it's bad, the whole left side of my body is shaking uncontrolably.

I dn't think it's related to DID, as much as probably the causes of both are the same.

Good point. It definitely picks up frequency when bad memories are brought up.

Well, I don't have PTSD but I do have a lot of twitches and little palpitations, spasms, jerks, etc. It looks like a tic most of the time, but it's not that noticeable. Usually when I'm stressed or am coming into close proximity of a thought subject I think to avoid last minute.

Seems to me like an involuntary movement, so I dont "blame" it on DID, but I do think it is related to the DID. I think it is energetic activity that originates or is triggered, maybe by the reaction/emotion/activity of an alter, that breaks through and causes movement (release of the energy). Kind of like being shocked or having a reflex point poked.

Wow, this is really interesting. I have had this since I was a child. It was bad then, then fine, then pregnancy hormones when I was 29 made it bad again. Now it's on and off, mostly affected by what I eat as well as stress, etc.

My mother, the cause of my DID problems I think, was very bad for this. She would slap me, shame me, etc, over it. Just couldn't handle it. Of course, that made me much, much worse.

I am sorry you have had the same problems

This probably isn't related to DiD but from my view it might be. If I sleep, I am normally a gentle sleeper and will cuddle with my partner and fall asleep. If my alt falls asleep, she twitches to the point where she would straight up push my partner off the bed. My alt has extreme and almost violent twitches when she sleeps.

I twitch too, mainly my upper body. I do it more often when I'm nervous or scared. I think maybe it's becuase switches are sometimes triggered by stress or can cause stress that people might twitch more when switching. It would definitely explain twitching when you remember bad things.

I twitch too, usually at night (morning or evening). It is weird. I get all panicy and obssess over it, it makes me feel bad. Once the obssession is over, I get used to the twitching until it goes away. I know it will return.

When I get anxious I twitch or steadily shake my hands get twitchy and feel like lead. When little rose is scared she shivers. Jay and Lyle both shake their knee when anxious or when they feel uncomfortable.

Initially, doctor's thought I had epilepsy. In fact, the official diagnosis is that I do have it, but the more I'm learning about having DID the more I think that I just have that. I still get twitches, especially when I'm very tired. E gets them too, and C to an extent, but as far as I know no one else gets them. I know sometimes when E tries to tell me about certain things that I find scary I'll extremely twitchy throughout my whole body.
