Thank you so much for posting this. Some of us have a lot of trouble with validation because we are co-conscious and don't fit into the cookie-cutter DID model. Seeing the video about the policeman was especially helpful to the one who goes to therapy since her experiences are very similar to his... when he started talking about the 'framework' memory of his childhood she was mouthing the words since she has said them so often. She also has had the experience of a dog who she is attached to not recognizing a different person, and becoming suddenly afraid that there is a stranger in the house.

Seeing other people in actual therapy sessions was good. A lot of us have seen our switching from outside and we look like Gretchen did. Most DID resources seem to have either patients describing their internal experience which is so different for people or doctors saying things about the trauma model that we already know. In watching this video we felt like we were not alone.

Thank you so much for this. I feel like this has brought many of us closer to acceptance and understanding. I am full of hope.

I had not seen that Michael Mierendorf documentary before.

Thanks for the trigger warning. Good call. I nearly lost it at minute 49 when Barb's alter Devon came out. Lost it as in suddenly my mind turned to mush and exploded right out my ears. Was that dissociation? You think?

I've been rather neglectful in posting back in here, so I apologize if some of the things I respond have already been resolved. But on the off chance they aren't...

Una+: To me, dissociation is like, literally walking through fog. Like I'm interacting and walking around as normal, but there's fog or dreamlike quality to everything around me. Or, in severe cases, it feels like everything around me is brand new and like I have no idea where I am or why I am there, even though I do know my surroundings and how I got there. Most of these latter instances have occurred while sitting in my mom's car.

Everyone else: I'm really glad that other people liked it as much as I do, in spite of how outdated it is. Hopefully other people will be able to find newer, more up to date, videos. I love these kinds of things, but it's very hard to find them. :( sadness :(
DID = An army of one!

Lurking (a past time I partake in far too often) = a form of stalking that no one seems to mind :P

Thanks for posting this link. I watched the video and heard so much that was familiar! There was a trigger for me, but it was the positive kind. I gained an insight for the first time as to how my alter Betty came on the scene. I admire her a lot now that I understand what she has been throughh for me.

I love how the dog knew it when the guy switched.

also I think movies fail horribly in showing how DID looks like. I closest were "frankie and alice","peacock" and maybe sybil. but the other movies were basically showing the other alters as criminals which can't be true in real cases because alters are supposed be supportive and there is nothing supportive about killing people.
