The purpose of a name?

Postby watching&waiting » Fri Oct 15, 2010 8:03 pm

I got the "OK" to post, and I assume I'm not the only alternate personality who realizes the purposes of a keyboard and computer screen are to communicate with people not near you.
Appology in advance for spelling errors.

As the title, why do we need names? Or genders for that matter, though that one bothers Kyle and others less so as he's FtM and I'm not the only genderless person here.

I don't see the point to it all. Why do we need one? I'm perfectly fine with "it", "that one" ect..
Every suggestion he and Morgan, who are the two who talk the most, have come up with has just been bad. I don't want a name, and I don't care how much of a bratty 5 year old I sound like right now.

So... Anyone else like this, not wanting a name I mean?

Anyway, I'm done rambling for now.

Have a nice day.

We will never be one, do not suggest to us we should integrate.
Or that we are objects. Or that we aren't real.

Okay, actually, I did have a second thought.

I'm fairly certain, including myself, there are 10 of us.
We can only account for 9; 5 boys, 2 girls, and 2 without gender.
Should we be expecting anyone else soon, or just let it go and try not to be too supprised?

Purpose of a name? I don't know... most of us try to impersonate one host. Or their idea of the host. Some times this makes us look very strange, as someone said once "multi minded" I guess.. but I guess we agree, what's the point of a name?

As an aside, I think some know that names can be used to call someone out... and that isn't a desirable thing for some. We tried it once and that's what ended up happening... do not want.

Anyone over the age of 12 is pretty much able to act like Kyle enough that people don't notice - however that is saying something about how unobservant some are...

Bright eyes here. I think names are the basis of communication. Language itself. What is language, other than the naming of concepts and things and ideas?

This Shirley. I think names are like brushstrokes in a painting. they give definition.

but I think there are other ways to do the same thing a name does.

To go with Shirley's brushstroke analogy, names can be used to paint ugly pictures sometimes but also beautiful ones.
These are the people using this account: me, Shirley, it's my account.
Amy will be in bold to defend herself or pipe up once in a while
And me, Bright Eyes/Antelope, the girl Shirley refers to. I act as Secretary for all.
We do not have DID, btw.
