Do you find it hard?

Postby TooCloseToTheEdge » Sat Jul 31, 2010 7:26 pm

Do you find it hard to answer when someone asks: "How old are you?" ? Because I find it really hard to remember what age the body is. For example today, Kate wanted to say 6, but I stopped her and I said 15. I am not sure I can always do this.
Sometimes I am tampted to say I am 17, which is true for me, but not for the body. And it's embarassing to think twice about your age. Please, some advice.

I sometimes stumble over age, but not really difficult. I don't think it's the DID in my case, I just tend to be a little scatter brained

Yep. My immediate response/reaction is to say I'm 26 even though the body is, um, a bit older. :P When I slip and say it out loud I try to cover it with something like, "I mean I'm 30. I don't know where 26 came from. I'm having a no-brain day." and then I change the subject.

The kids, on the other hand, state their own age as opposed to the body's age. The good part is that they are rarely, if ever, out here alone without being in the presence of someone who knows about them anyhow.

Me too! I always go to say 26 even tho Mara is 23. The kids also state their own age but as with Mikaela they're never out unless they are with my partner.

Sorry, but we cannot concentrate long enough to read really long replies or threads so don't think we're being rude if we don't.

I've always had trouble with remembering my age. My mind either goes to the wrong age, or I draw a blank. I'm 20 (supposedly  ), but I feel 15, so that's where my mind goes to. You're right, it is embarrassing having to think twice about it.

I kind of repeat the age, in my head, over and over. I also imagine someone is asking me my age, and then I answer it. Those seem to make it a little easier.
