I'd love to work as a psychiatric nurse. Does the fact I have DID mean I'm not suitable for this job in your opinions?

Sorry, but we cannot concentrate long enough to read really long replies or threads so don't think we're being rude if we don't.

Plenty of people with psychological conditions go into psychology/psychiatry precisely because of their conditions. I think Cameron West was one of them.
I mean, hey, it takes one to know one, right?

Cameron West earned his doctorate in psychology BECAUSE he wanted to understand his DID more.
Don't ever let DID stop you from pursueing anything.
Oh, and good luck!

I've totally been struggling with the same thing recently. I am a student and will be finished with my social Worker's degree in about a year for undergrad. And my DID is very under control and i'm on the last hard parts and issues, so i know there is light down the road, but i still question it. So you are not alone =]
Maybe this will help and give you something to also think about : i had to figure out why I was questioning my abilities. The best answer i could come up with is that my youngest alter M as I will call her is afraid of growing up and moving forward since we're at the last leg of a 8 year journey. Shes younger, ranges from 4-9 and doesn't like change and is away from our mother. The fact that there is only 3 of us in the system now makes it easier to live the life that i want and that also scares her.
So if you ever find yourself questioning again just see if there is an alter who as a belief that the can't do it or that they are to broken. If anything you'll make a great psychiatric nurse because believe it or not people will pick up on your ability to understand alot of things and to have various veiws on their issues! Good luck to you!
