OK so I was just wondering if anyone else has ever been put in a mental ward that's DID to do memory work. I have a few times. I was just wondering how long do you usually have to stay and if it's also because they're afraid you will hurt yourself or someone else.

Hi,
It's best not to call them mental wards, because that assumes that they are only for 'mental' people. In reality, such places are filled with people who are simply depressed and cannot cope with life anymore. In answer to your question: I spent just two weeks in one and I enjoyed my experience there. I know people who have spent many months in them though. I only got out because I discharged myself (and I could only do that because I admitted myself).

You shouldn't have to be as an in-patient to get memory stuff done.
You should just be able to do it and go home.
