IRL Community / Friendships, how?

Postby littlessystem » Tue Mar 25, 2025 9:36 pm

Any advice on how to connect with other systems irl so we can make friends? We are very isolated and would like other systems as friends (of similar body age to our own) rather than singlets because they’re more likely to “get us”, especially as a system of littles/middles. If we are ourselves, others have been “weirded out” or uncomfortable. We don’t want to mask for other’s comfort in a friendship. When we came out to a singlet friend with the help of a therapist, the friend ended the relationship and went no contact. So, we want friends and friends who care about authentic us, not a version of us pretending to be big or whatever to be accepted. That doesn’t feel like a real friendship. And we have seen other posts of other systems online saying they are also lonely, that the littles wish they had others to play with outside the body and not just alone or on the inside. How do we connect?

Have you tried looking up multiples groups followed by your city on Google? Sometimes things pop up that way. I wish we could be more help, but we're struggling with the same thing, because as it turns out the multiples support group that used to be here no longer exists. I agree that an IRL group can be super helpful.

I just tried searching for "multiples groups', I end up getting parents of twins or triplet groups. Is there a specific way you're suggesting we search? ^_^;

Have you tried Facebook search for groups and see if there’s a group for DID in your country?…. once joined you can ask if anyone within that group is in your area? or if anyone knew of groups in your country/area that have meet ups etc?

I’m not sure about other social media’s as we’re not on them but I guess you could ask on them? ..as you have found though. People often mistake the term ‘multiple’ for someone asking about ‘multiple births’ rather than ‘multiple head mates!’

I think you need to search specifically under terms Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) or OSDD to find other adults who have ‘littles’ that are not actual children. ‘plural’ or ‘plural systems’ might work too.

Just a thought- would maybe searching for local trauma support groups or survivors groups be helpful? I know it's a bit broader, but it might help to give a point to narrow things down further from there. Or you might find others who are dissociative within those groups.
