New diagnosis

Postby Julie444 » Fri Dec 06, 2024 4:31 am

So I am trying to get to terms with the fact that I have DID. Been a hard few weeks with two hospital stays and yesterday I saw my old therapist.
The therapy ended abruptly after 10 years and I kind of blocked it all out. Now it turns out DID was always suspected and I forgot.
I also have bipolar 1 and it turns out my manic psychosis was dissociation after all. Trying to keep it all together and not turn into a 5 yr old because she is so scared and tends to throw things out the window to get help (I live in an appartment building, 3 floor).

It's hard to cope with a new diagnosis of DID, especially because of the nature of the condition. We don't want to have it. We just want to be ok. Now that you're diagnosed though, things may get better, either slowly or quickly.

All of you are powerful. That's why you are here today. You're trying to get help. You're reaching out. You will be able to feel well soon, and then things might get a little worse, and then they will get better again. It's a difficult life to live with DID, but so far so good!

It's ok to be scared. And it's ok to be brave! And everything will be ok!
It's all going to be ok.
