i am not new to this forum. i had an account but deleted it. i won't mention the name for personal privacy. i recently decided to make a new account, though.
you can call me disasterjoy, or DJ for short. i am a college-aged, (though, notably not in college), guy with autism, a traumatic brain injury, DID, and chronic pain. i've have known about my DID for almost 4 years, but have not been able to get diagnosed because i'm without the ability to get to a therapist for several reasons; namely my job, which has me working 40 hours a week on an inconsistent schedule, my inability to drive, and a general lack of funds. though, i'm working on it.
like i said before, i have DID. there are 3 parts that front the most, with the occasional others that pop in and out. i'm constantly on the fence about being polyfragmented, and we have a lot of young parts, especially active ones. most of our active parts, including 2 of the 3 most frequent parts that show up, identify as an age/stage of development under 18/an adult stage of development. please don't treat us like a child because of that, however. we are bodily an adult, and i want to be treated that way.
i've read quite a bit about DID, from books and papers on it. i've recently been reading the book "understanding and treating dissociative identity disorder - a relational approach", and have also recently picked up the book "engaging multiple personalities - volume 1" by david yeung. i like to read a lot of DID self-help books, and books that specifically talk about the treatment of DID, to apply it to myself and my parts. i like to take excerpts from the books i'm reading and post them online, in the case that other people find them useful as well. one day, i think i'd like to run a blog about life with DID, and have a section where i talk about and review books about DID. but for now, dis-sos.com will have to serve as my inspiration.
my other hobbies include drawing, writing, crochet and knitting, making mixtapes (they're obsolete now, but it's just so fun), learning about animals, learning in general honestly, playing video games, making playlists, and napping for extended periods of time.
i hope you will have me on your forum
