Therapist leaving

Postby WaterSelkie » Mon Apr 04, 2022 12:19 pm

My therapist just told me she's leaving in late june and I'm so upset. I don't really know how to cope. I really attached to her and she's really good for me. She responds to me in the way that I need, she's a stable figure for me and she's really good at helping me understand and process things. I can't imagine having another therapist as good for me as her. She just fits me? She is so good for me and it's super hard having to lose her.

I'm sorry that's happening, and with so little notice.

I hope she's helping you connect with another therapist before she leaves so she can help you with the start of the transition.

And I hope she can explain clearly to the littles what's going on so they really understand why this is happening. Ask her if she can give you something to remember her by--perhaps an object from her office. I recall someone else saying that they had a recording of their therapist reading them a story, so they could listen to it when they missed the therapist.

We have a video of our T showing with gestures that he cares about all of us--that helps a lot when we miss him. Even though we still see him twice a week, the littles miss him in between, so we can't even fathom having to say goodbye.
