Does anyone here get headaches when switching? I find I do when my "bad" alter is triggered. Feels like a bomb exploded in my head.

All of them except for my nice alter! I know what you mean. It's like, only the bad alters give you headaches?
Peace,
Mica
I can carry the whole weight of the world on myself and not have a problem, but as soon as I add my own, it's impossible.
Never know what you'll learn today - maybe something new. Did you know [insert traumatic experience] happened? Well today you had that flashback! Gee whiz, isn't life just WONDERFUL?

Yeah getting mad at my mom because she is irresponsible made me switch. Brought out the grouch that lives inside, causing an instant headache. Now I am feeling kind of sad. I hate when my mom triggers me. She stirs up hidden memories just by me hearing her voice. I find that ice helps with the headaches. I just lie with an ice pack on my head, trying to freeze the little bastard out, lol. She will eventually retreat to her little cave but she makes some noise while she is here. I can live pretty easily with the others but she is a different story. She is a mean little f&^%. She is the one that makes me feel insecure about everything so .....its time to go lie on couch with ice and maybe she will say what she is going to then go away.

I used to get migraines with everyone.
Now it isn't quite so bad, but I still get them when a lot of alters switch rapidly (called the revolving door) and when I have a very bad flashback. Because my really bad alters don't come out so much (that I know of) I cannot say for sure whether or not I get headaches in relation to them emerging, but I seem to get migraines from everything so its quite possible.
I am now on a control medicine for migraines and they aren't nearly as frequent as they used to be.
Ice does help me. Sometimes heat, but mostly ice, and sleep if the pain is not too bad.
Ok bye.

ya, i can relate to what you are saying Lark. i hate that revolving door feeling. changing in general can give me a headache. doesn't have to be a bad alter. i have noticed when i have a really bad flash back, i'll end of holding my head in my hands. that's when it feels like my head is going to explode, when the memory is too much for me.

Amazing that when my grouchy alter retreats to her cave, that my head feels incredibly calm and quiet. I do not seem to get headaches except when she is triggered and comes out to make me crazy.

Sorry about the parental unit induced alter release.
I also get really bad headaches when switching. Mine are accompanied by bloody noses. I was wondering if anyone else experienced this??
Proud of you for successfully tucking the hellion

back into her cave

The less I seek for some definitive, the closer I am to fine

Thank you Dark!!!!
I am very lucky in the fact that I have the best friend in the world who does more for me than she realizes. So when my little grouchy alter shows herself, the energy I get from my friend helps to drive her away. I only hope that I do the same for her
The bloody noses concern me. However i do feel that there is a connection to the switching. I am curious to see if anyone else has them.

Hellion ... that's a good word ...
I usually wake up with awful headaches.
In switching, headaches oftena ccompanied with loud sounds. Sounds are sometimes a trigger that cause switching too. For no reason at all. But, like, the sounds from the animated series 'boogipop phantom' I can't stand listening to that at all.
sometimes I feel something sharp right behind my eyes as well
-- So what then is this I?
Right now, as you read this, does it amount to anything more than a collection of thoughts and memories which are just transitory, and come and go in the mind like clouds in the sky? --

We don't have too many headaches accompanying switching.. it happens sometimes, and when it happens it's a feeling behind the eyes mostly.. which can get really heavy and blinding.. I know there are different sensations and different ways of switching depending on what alter is about to surface.. but I haven't figured out (yet) with which alter what kind of switch/sensation will take place though.. it would be interesting to find out sometime though.
