So sleepy...

Postby lalalark2 » Mon Sep 17, 2007 4:18 am

Lately I have had the most AWFUL time sleeping at night. The little ones are bouncing off the walls when I get home from class (music always winds them up and I always have some good exciting class to go to every night ... esp. Thursday nights which is Steel drum)
I get up fairly early in the morning (about 5:45 every day) and I get home by latest 11. So I should be fairly tired... but I am not I am wound up, and I cannot seem to get into a good bedtime routine. The little ones are hungry, or they want some time, or to read, or to color.
It is very frustrating that I am not getting enough sleep.
Anyone have similar problems with their littles?

oh gosh yes, this sounds familiar!
I've never had a lazy schedule since I did my GCSE's in secondary school. My schedules were always hectic, with study, after shcool activities and various jobs on the side along with my projects. It's frustrating too that everyone in the system wants to do their own thing as well, and a lot of us never get the time. Purely because there aren't enough hours in the day :(
My boss at my main animation job the other day gave me a 'lecture' of sorts... I had been behind on work because of various troubles... mostly that thing that happened with my ex and the september thing.... but since he has only known me since this summer, he thought it was that I couldn't handle such a 'grown up job' and basically lecutred me on timekeeping and stress management. He suggested I quit my other job at the bar, and learn to handle my time better. Haha! He doesn't know I cosplay for one thing, which takes up so much time and money, he doesn't know our various hobbies, and least of all he has no idea about my alters and how much time they like to sap off me!
God it was funny.

But yeah, finding time to sleep is a big issue for me. I always say 'I'll go to bed at eleven today' but something always crops up! Usually my younger ones wanna watch a film like Labyrinth, or someone like Oliver or Vince wants to play guitar, then wrwite some of a story.... The annoying thing is you can't deny them this time, because then they feel left out huh?
Do you ever get people asking you how the hell you hold it all together with that many commitments? I got asked that once and... I seemed to be totally oblivious to how much I was doing!

A coupla times I've slept in past nine a.m. and for some reason it gives me a really bad headache! :S
-- So what then is this I?
Right now, as you read this, does it amount to anything more than a collection of thoughts and memories which are just transitory, and come and go in the mind like clouds in the sky? --

... you guys need to instill some discipline into your kids. I know girls fail in that department, and that's why in a family, its usually dad who takes care of that. But alas, you're single moms in your own head. Sit them down, and explain that you need to sleep in order to get up early every day. Also explain that CHILDREN should not be up past 11, cuz they need to sleep in order to grow up healthy. Sure its your body, but they don't understand that. Also... tell them demons come to reap the souls of bad children who don't go to sleep at a reasonable time

that's no fun! don't be a party pooper! how many times has frank kept you out late? yes, i have a terrible time getting to sleep. so i take something to make me sleepy, like a couple allergy pills. it doesn't affect me, but it completely knocks the kids out. they can stay up and play all they want. (as long as they can stay awake, that is) i have one that is afraid to fall sleep, and cries as soon as i get to bed. she remembers everything and thinks she at the old house when the lights are off. sometimes i have to get up just to let her know everythings allright. she used to sleep on the floor, but hopefully i've broke her of that.

... I wasn't awake when he did that, hence why I didn't know about him for the longest time. Sure I woke up tired as hell, BUT I didn't have to sit him on my knee and tell him bed time stories :P

we do have have rules, but the little ones seem to be having a very difficult time sleeping lately (except during the day) and so even if I'm asleep they are awake.

so rules are not helping. They are not trying to break the rules. They are good kids... mostly...

And I know about discipline, I am a teacher in the LAUSD. I have to enforce the rules or I will have kids climbing on the bathroom stalls more than I already do!!

Maybe there something going on with the littles you can find out through letting them talk to Eliza or your therapist? Or letting them write stuff down? Although they might not know themselves, maybe something's going on.. you never know. I hope you'll start getting enough sleep somewhere in the near future :? :(..

Take care!
