*Trigger Warning* Belief-based misinterpretations of DID

** TRIGGER WARNING **

Because of Zors post I'm thinking about this concept of demon possession. I'm thinking out loud because this facilitates that and I can avoid other parts and there thoughts by doing this.

In some ancient cultures if a person exhibited "having two souls" they were seen as a reincarnation and highly spiritual. This of course changed with the advent of subsequent religions.

Subsequent religions created the concept of "good and evil" this didn't exist before. They also put stipulations on how people are supposed to exist and present themselves which meant "two souls" became an oddity to the point of "it must be a demon"

The scientific era completely teinted by faiths, namely the Christian faith, because Muhammad took Islam out of the game from the get go by burning anything that wasn't his book. But still completely teinted allows for the concept of some kind of spirituality to teint science. Science is supposed to be pure or it isn't science and yet we still teint it. The experiments involving energy packets that can be separated by great distance and still respond to eachother landed a possible answer of "we could be in a simulation" which is a twisted way of still putting spirituality in the form of science fiction but still fiction and as abstract as claiming "God" made the energy packets mimick eachother.

Through very minimal research scientific psychiatric communities have established that trauma can cause personality problems, various ones, from narcissism to DID and many in-between which it's possible to veiw as a spectrum. NPD on one end where a person experiences neglect or abuse or overly good treatment and the personality or psychology doesn't develop past about age 2 is very rigid and there's minimal help for those poor people. In the middle a normal personality construct of a healthy person and either side of that things like BPD and Bipolar. All the way down the other end is DID where the abuse experienced has been so bad that a person splits and different personalities form all at varying stages of development and being themselves on different parts of the spectrum - like a rainbow.

Instead of society embracing that DID has cause in the real world, ie severe trauma, people like to believe "it's not possible these people are making it up" or "they must be demon possessed" and they feed their fears that society is awful and something supernatural must be going on with films like "Split" because they can't take reality - bad stuff happens and when bad stuff happens the mind seeks the same biological thing it always has, survival. We're here as biological beings to survive to reproduce - and that's it - if purely looking from a scientific perspective which is what's necessary to find "cures" Nobody found a cure purely by praying but they did by purely implementing science and no doubt some people prayed and did the necessary science at the same time.

Biology says survival to reproduce is the innate drive of life. To survive and reproduce when experiencing severe trauma the brain has to adapt. It adapts in many different ways to compensate. Schizophrenics may have voices telling them to do things their brain considers necessary to survive. Schizophrenia is more likely if there's a close relative with scitzophrenia which indicates genetics which indicates it's mapped into some peoples genetics because it somehow in the past helped them survive - could be that in ancient times these people were also seen as spiritual. A narcissist has intense self love so this would facilitate them reproducing and if they then see a child as a threat they abandon the child and reproduce elsewhere or which is worse they abuse the child and create another narcissist or a co-dependent or some other type of disordered person by their actions.

Both my parents have several narcissistic traits. They aren't diagnosed, they don't consider themselves as disordered at all but narcissists never do unless it somehow suits them or they loose all sources of supply and are forced to therapy. Unfortunately narcissistic supply is abundant everywhere so this rarely happens.

With DID there's alot of confusion, denial, religious theories teint our ability to look at ourselves clearly too especially when parts have religious beliefs and in this system at least one sees herself as a "ghost" sent to help the host and vows to help until the host dies. When I wipe all this away, all these ideas that are not based in fact or in the real world I'm left with the very obvious conclusion that this brain suffered severe trauma and neglect. As a result of this severe trauma and neglect it created the ability to forget traumatic events. The amount of forgetting required would lead to a severely mentally disabled memory impaired person incapable of basic tasks - this didn't happen. It didn't happen because of the Biological drive of the need to survive inorder to reproduce. So the brain was forced to the point of trauma where there was no trauma. It was forced to create different people inside of it who become the support system to eachother. Our system usually centres around supporting Beth, so I take Beth to be the host. The twins work the system but they centre around supporting Mandy who is a happy 5 year old girl. She is very autonomous and doesn't connect her self to other parts, she has a sort of outside view that disconnects her. She is basically the five year old child that had nothing bad happen to her. The twins, like a crazy scientist might rather than a rational scientist, decided maybe if the 5 year old girl has a chance at a "normal" life then that'll fix all the problems - it did not. It has however shine a light onto the deep nature of it.

A religious person might say the twins are demons because they cause confusion, make crazy irrational decisions sometimes and tell fantastical stories so much it leads to delusions - demons would do that. My view is that they're either psychotic or maladaptive dreamers. They're a personality that is down the end of the spectrum where schizophrenics would be. They had a very long term maladaptive dream or delusion that they had stocks and shares, could hack and had varying amounts of control over different important events. This is delusions of grandeur as well as it being such an extensive day dream that if it isn't psychotic it's definitely maladaptive day dreaming. They released this day dream the other day and it felt like a cloud leaving the mind and they said "there's a nice daydream for you" which is when I thought if they can let go of it so easily it's not psychosis but then if I ask them about it they say "we're retired from all that. We're leaving it to the Russian" (who isn't actually Russian at all) and they still occasionally check the news and they put things together like "heroin found in ship" "lawyer killed" (who worked for a rigging company) "a police officer stabbed" they put all this together to tell them something about what's going on with the Russian and the government and I go back to "they're psychotic" but I don't go to "they're demons" because that's putting religion into it rather than science.

If DID is demon possession then how can it be that there are several "normal" alters and they work to support our overall life even destructive alters often have good overall intent. That is not what demons do. Am I supposed to believe I'm possessed by both angels and demons in some kind of battle over my one soul ... Again that's ridiculous, why would I be important enough - the church would have me believe I am important enough but that's feeding the amounts of narcissism we all have bits of to gain power over us.

No. Alters are created out of trauma inorder to meet the biological drive to survive and reproduce.

Once that's accepted it then becomes necessary to look at what the trauma was. I've been shown and bodily witnessed a couple of these terrible and traumatic things recently. They are very different experiences to the twins psychotic thoughts or maladaptive day dreaming that they take far too seriously. Not only do other parts have memories of these things also, upto certain points but the parts coming forward are trapped in the trauma, they exist purely to hold that trauma. It's very different to the long drawn out delusions of the twins. They can't be "let go" they can't be "continued" or developed past whatever that part is holding. I can't easily access them now, luckily I wrote them down, because I would have to access that part. It wasn't a story I was told, how the twins will tell their story, it's a traumatic event held only by that part. It's not a demon tricking me or lieing to me either, going down that line of thought would be inorder to bring about denial. The different parts are real and their experiences are real.

Is it still too much to deal with, yes. Does listening to these parts have anything to do with survival, no, they could stay as they are and this life would be lived out one way or another regardless. So there's no biologically driven motivation to confront these difficult parts. It'd be easier if I was on a demonic quest or I couldn't stay alive without facing them. Facing it all could result in the reverse, a deep depression and a need to not be here.

In conclusion: because of the nature of how this disorder is created, sociatal need to discount it from religion swayed scientific ideas about psychology it is likely that far more people suffer this disorder than are ever discovered. It is likely that people go their whole lives without tackling it and that makes it likely that severe abuse exists in many homes.

That scary conclusion is the real demon not the alters created out of a biological drive towards survival.
