Thought stopping

Postby Rive » Sun Jun 02, 2019 10:56 pm

If these are parts communicating with me I wouldnt be able to stop the thoughts right? Like for example. I was thinking something in my head and then I got in an agruement with them and was like I told you.... but I was able to stop it right there. If those are parts I would not be able to fo that, right?

Don't know about others, but we're able to do that. To stop the thought and silence the voice if we want. But not the feeling that comes with the thought.

It could be that you are raising the dissociative barrier between you and therefore "block them out".
Or maybe they are scared of you?

I don't know if I can stop the thoughts, I don't think so... but I also don't know if I could stop thoughts that I experience as my own.

Maybe you're just old fashioned arguing with yourself in your head. And you told yourself to shut up and you did. The end.

What makes you think Schizophrenia, Dnester?

Being OCD, AND having a family history of Schizophrenia (extended family) I understand there's a link between the two... *shrugs* nothing I've ever worried about long term, and I'm well past the usual age of onset so I figure I'm probably as crazy as I'm going to get (which is quite enough as it is). I know it's a common fear for pwOCD. Which if I remember aright, you said you had. Sometimes I do feel as if I get right up to the fence, beyond which lies delusions, and I kinda lean over it, but never quite step over it.

Because I can stop the thoughts and they are thoughts. I argue in my head and its not normal arguing. I know it isnt OCD and those with DID dont relate so maybe its Schizophrenia.
