Have had a new reaction to an abuse issue. Wondering if you know what it is called. Suddenly everything freezes & the alter involved hears, sees, reacts to nothing external. If T calls another major alter, he/she will answer to their name with no memory of what happened before. A couple times T & another were discussing the issue that brings this on. He said the conversation stopped for a minute then picked up just where it stopped. We didn't know it happened. If T doesn't call another by name, don't know if anyone will come.My fear. There doesn't seem to be any reaction...no fear, anger, crying, nothing. Sound familiar to anyone? Scary!

It sounds like in trauma they chose "freeze" from "fight, flight or freeze" Probably they could only freeze. And it sounds like they're stuck or get stuck in freeze. They respond to any direct question but internally are in freeze mode. We use the natural freeze response to think. Someone freezes in the body, the alter most able to later physically react, and the twins think, if they have to switch up alter to do whatever reaction is necessary then they do.
So it sounds to us like you have an alter stuck in freeze mode. We'd take them internally and deal with that until they were ready to be outside again and ideally talk though whatever trauma they suffered with a therapist.
I don't know a term for it but it sounds like an alter got stuck in a fear response.
Much luck.

The term is dissociative absence seizure, also known as psychogenic non-epileptic seizure (PNES). These are very common in persons living with a dissociative disorder.

Sarandipity, that feels right. Never thought of freeze response. But it fits. Thanks.
Una, will research that more. Never heard of it. Almost glad there is an official name. Thanks
