How to deal with an "Alter" terrorizing you in your dreams?

Postby Ponyta » Fri Aug 24, 2018 4:34 am

Hello, I keep having scary dreams every so often about some woman chasing me. I know her name (at least I think "it" is female). I say "it" because I'm not 100% sure if "it" is human or not, I know they can shapeshift. I also know for 100% fact that it isn't Wolverine (He can shapeshift too) that is terrorizing me. We are good friends now, that's one of the reasons I know it isn't him.

Well last night I had the dream again. (I do NOT watch scary movies- so I also know that's not what is causing these dreams. "She" Has the same exact voice, walk, and tone of voice in every dream. So I'm pretty sure "she" is one of my Personalities. "She" seems much more real than any of the dream characters.

Trigger Warning
Scary dream, Witch, hunters, gun mention, Chase, Fight

Dream:

It started off normal. I was at some building. It looked like a warehouse. All of a sudden the "woman" hollered my name and came after me. "She" was in the form of a witch ("Her" preferred form, I think- although I'm pretty sure "she" was the man that attacked me in yet another dream.) I ran from her as fast as I could go despite knowing that I was dreaming. (I was terrified of her due to the outcome of other dreams. I didn't want to go through that again. It was beyond awful- the pain.) I ran for what seemed like miles. I ran in and out of tall grass, woods, and behind buildings to try to lose her.

I eventually heard a bunch of Men having a party. They apparently were all hunters (Wearing camouflage and all had rifles). I ran into their campsite. They all stared at me like what is a female doing here. I told them that I was being chased and I needed help. All of them, except one, laughed at me. (I'm pretty sure all of the men, except maybe that one that didn't laugh, were just dream characters.) The one man told me to get behind him and hide. He told me he would protect me. He said my name, apparently by mistake. He acted like he didn't want me to suspect that he could be one of my personalities, but there was something about him that really stood out to me. He seemed too "Real" to just be a dream character.

Well, I hid under the bench like he told me to. And the "woman" showed up. She demanded to know where I was. The man told her that he had no clue where I was. She called him two names, Bryan/Brian (Not sure the spelling) and Gambit. He called her Mystique (I believe). It sounded like Mystic something.... (I do know that those are names of X-men characters and that I was doing research on them lately- BUT those names have been floating around in my mind for a long time BEFORE I even looked up the x-men info. She also could shape-shift way longer than that as well).

They got into a fight because she knew he was lying and that he was trying to protect me. I remember him saying that he won't back down, no matter what- he was going to protect me. Then I woke-up.

End trigger warning

I was just wondering how to deal with scary dreams like that......? How can I talk to "her" without "her" terrorizing me? She seems to hold a lot of anger and hatred towards me. In previous dreams, I tried to reason with her, but it did not go good at all for me. She refused to talk and she just caused me horrible pain.

Through advice is the same as previously because this isn't the first time you've described experiences like this.

Oh, okay. Thank you!

I was just asking because I figured this issue was somewhat different than the others. The others hated me too, but they didn't cause me EXCRUCIATING pain in my dreams. "She" will not talk to me at all- as in not answer my questions. She will just laugh and she takes pleasure in torturing me. She did some really awful stuff to me in my previous dreams (don't want to mention it because it was so awful and triggering). I'll just say she tortures me in awful ways, if she is able to catch me in my dreams. It doesn't help any that I can feel realistic pain in my dreams.

I was just wondering if there was anyway I could stop this.....I really want to talk to her, but I'm terrified of her due to this. I don't want to call her name when I'm awake, because I'm terrified of what she could do if she is able to take over. I know I have to face her in my dreams, but I'm not sure how to go about doing so when I'm so terrified of her. I think It's the pain that scares me the most.

I know I had a hard time talking to the others in the past, so that isn't different. I was just asking because I'm more worried about how to stop being tortured by pain/terrorized by her in my dreams. I was scared to go back to sleep once I woke-up from that dream. I figured she would catch me for sure then. :( I was just lucky this time that someone helped me- normally no one does and she gets me.

This may not be true for everyone, but in my system, parts cause pain because they are IN pain, and that's the only way they can express it or feel that they will be listened to. So I think you have to talk to her and let her know that if she is giving you an example of how things feel to HER, then you're so sorry that she has had to deal with that level of pain. And that you want to help her, but if she causes you pain, then you're just BOTH in pain and that isn't helpful for either of you.

Okay, I'll try that. Thank you for the advice! :)

Hopefully she will listen, and we can work it out. Hopefully......
