Images of alters melting?

Postby DozensOfDenizens » Thu Aug 23, 2018 4:36 pm

Head Captain here. We kind of disappeared from the forum for a while... I'm not exactly sure what happened that led to us not posting here, but we're back.
-Head Captain

(I think a switch happened here but I don't know -Quinn)

One thing that's been concerning me lately is that whenever we touch each other in the head, it's like we melt. Or rather, the mental image we have of eachother melts and stretches like the cheese in a cheese stick. It's like the boundaries between us have been getting weaker since we stopped posting here and really trying to recognize who's who in the head.

(A switch happened here but I don't know which one of us typed the rest -Quinn)

The answer to solving this issue is pretty obvious. We've got to relearn everybody's names and really spend the time getting to know everyone. The majority of us who have been in control have been pushing everybody away (both in the head and out of the head) and we need to stop.

It's a good thing for the boundaries between you to be getting weaker. Perhaps some of you will integrate with each other. And in a system with around 200 alters that can only be a good thing because balancing everyone's needs is going to be extremely difficult.

It sounds like a challenging time, especially to know whether things are going well or not.

It makes me think of how important visual metaphors are to us. Sometimes in exploring the metaphors you can find out more about the situation.

You said it was like cheese...in a good way like pizza, or a not so good way like sticking glue...?

All the best with your travels.

Never once throughout our journey has integration (as in becoming one, singular personality) been a goal. It's not a good thing in our eyes. It's like losing a close friend or family. Please don't say that it's a good thing for the boundaries between us to be getting weaker because, to us, that's like saying it's a bad thing that we're multiple. We don't believe it is a bad thing that we're multiple, nor necessarily a good thing for us to integrate into one personality.

It's in a not-so-good way, like glue, yeah. It's as if when our mental images touch each other they get stuck together and it takes some effort to pull us apart. My best analogy was that it was like mozzarella/cheese sticks being pulled apart, because that's what our skin looked like as we pulled away from touching each other. Now that I think about it, that's a bit of a graphic image, sorry xP

Thanks for the kind words ^w^

I'm not saying it's bad to be multiple. I'm saying it's impossible to successfully manage the needs and wants of 200 individuals in one body. So having less of you is good because you will be more likely to meet the needs of who you have. There are currently so many of you that you have forgotten everyone's names and who they are.

In the past you have talked about how important it is to give each part there own time to front and to do the things they want. How can you expect to manage that for 200 and do anything like have a job or study or anything any of you want to do that is a long term thing.

I think that it's more that we never really properly got to know who everyone is. We put such a big focus on the mind map and discovering everybody that we didn't put any focus on learning about them as individuals. I think when we stopped doing the introductions on our blog and posting here we started losing touch with everyone individually. It feels like that's what the mental image that Connor was seeing was trying to tell us.

-Head Captain

I think I've come to realize that once we had found more than probably even 30 of us it became unfeasible to give everybody a specified time to front. There's only 24 hours in a day. I've come to realize that giving everybody their own time to front isn't the important thing, it's keeping a balance between the times when a specific individual in the system needs to front and the times when anybody who wants to front can front that's most important for us. There are those who are satisfied with not fronting at all; there are those who aren't for instance. But we can't get to know the needs of everyone in the system if we don't even try to get to know them like we haven't been since we stopped posting on the forums.

Like Head Captain alluded to, it seems like the mental image I was having wasn't a sign of integration, but a sign that things are going wrong because we aren't trying to get to know everybody in the system and have been largely ignoring everybody.
