Hello Everyone....its been a long time since I have posted. I have been doing ok but getting new horrible memories from my Insiders. I have been processing them and having many nightmares.
What is happing now is a Little ( or 2 together) are having physically painful episodes of memory? I don't understand what's happening. I am not present for the time the pain is being experienced. My friend has seen it happen. This Little cries an tenses up in pain. I'm not sure what this means or if its normal.
Is this an abreaction? releasing a memory? Healing?
Can anyone help?
We Coexist....

Without being able to ask them what's going on its hard to say. However when we experience flashbacks the somatic aspects of the memories are always strongest and can be more real then any physical sensations we are actually experiencing at the time. It is not healing for us and is extremely distressing.
Before we understood the sensations were coming from memory we would try to override the sensations by scratching ourselves. We have done that in till we bleed more then once and it never overrides the memory sensations.
Now that I kniw its coming from memory I try to focus on the things I know are from the now and block out the memory. Which I'm not sure is the most health option but its what I end up doing to make the sensations go away.

sometimes dissociated parts are "stuck in trauma time", that means experiencing a loop of memory without knowing that time has passed and that things are not happening anymore. That can include somatic dissociation, including body flashbacks, re-experiencing physical sensations of the trauma including pain. this can happen while they are fronting but also inside.
usually a T would try to have them open their eyes to see today and help with grounding.

To me it's a type of body memory.
Also used to scratch. I had to train myself not to scratch.
If I don't like someone or a part of me doesn't like them then their touch will cause me pain. I've had that since young. I believe that's a body reaction or a message from a non speaking part of myself sending a message "this person is not ok" or "this is on some level inappropriate" or "its a bad time for us to be touched in anyway right now" Getting the message right is important because it's just a physical pain feeling, no words.
So realise it's not present inflicted pain. If you're up to it decipher where the pain came from, what caused it in the past. If you're not up to that then the above advice of becoming present in the current moment to block out the pain does to me seem good advice although as already also said possibly not "healthy" but that's for you to decide. Be kind to yourself and do whatever you feel you can cope with at the time is my opinion.

Do these pains lead you to information...if not immediately, soon? Can you relate it to an alter or event or set of alters or are reasonable for your history? Are they getting worse or different? Only you, perhaps with your Ts input, can judge. Don't discount a physical cause. Know a DID who kept thinking worsening symptoms were "just memories". He ended up in the ER followed by surgery. Probably a very rare occurrence but it does happen. Take care,........

Is this little an emotional part? Or could possibly be becoming an emotional part?
Jo is not an emotional part but can sometimes feel pain from trauma, like a leftover memory.
If you have a T, it's probably best to talk it over with them.
But we would say it's most likely a "leftover" so to speak of a memory.
Although we are not professionals we can only speak from experience.
