What techniques to use to remember

Postby Angied1128 » Tue Apr 24, 2018 9:57 pm

Hi forum. I was diagnosed with DID about 20 yrs ago. I was young and in college and did not take matters into my hands. Denial. Throughout my life I have been in and out of conciousness. I learned to live with it as fatal as it is to never know what I have done. I always pushed it to the side. But something particularly different has happened this year. For one, I had lost track of the majority of it but that is not the worse part since years back i went as far as losing a full year. What I am finding out this time around is that I totally and completely twisted the "realities" of my alters. My alters usually live their lives but somehow this last 16 months I have managed to mesh a complete and fantastical life in which apparently all my alters participated actively. This had never happened to me before. My episodes were exclusive to each alter and each alter always lived by its own self. I don't have many details since I can't remember almost anything but from what conversations people have with me, I have totally gone on a multiples mesh of a world for 16 months. Like a ball of all my alters lives concurrently living together. Is this common? Has this happened to anyone? Honestly? Am freaking out. I have never expirienced to the degree of imaging my partner was of another sex even assuming I was living some place else. My alters always knew where they were. I am having flashes of people emotions words and the little pieces are like totally whack. Anyone can help with this? What is this?

I don't know your system or you enough to say anything definitive and am in no way a professional but it really sounds like your system is trying to achieve independence. Certain alters may not be getting what they need, mainly some time out for each of them at designated times. This can often help if you can get everyone to agree that you all need to work together and that you all need to share your time. It can be worked out that whoever needs some time out can have it as long as you all get to know what's going on (ensure you are safe) and a time limit. Ideally you would have some form of memory, recording or sense of what transpires. Sometimes another in the system can help with that.

I may be way off, but I think everyone just wants a bit of independence : ) If that's the case you can work it into life so it's not problematic and unexpected. Otherwise you can later explore possible reasons.

Hope this helps

In the meantime, something to help keep track of time: a journal, a whiteboard/chalkboard, calendar, agenda, checklists, post-its, anything to help you keep things linear including the gaps.

If the disagnoses are secured then you use continued co con at the traumadissocation.com site. It helps makes links an associations so that the fragments and distinct remember better. Therapist are generally recommend then you all can continue the once therapy is over because it usually is it never forever. If you go a good one they can teach u step by step, if not u run the risk of not really learning it that well. Remember any playing around usual sensitivities can leave you at the risk of social security. NO matter what a protector wants you to believe or someone total reliable on someone practicing it can be hit or miss, there is a definate toll. Memorization games with alters included so don't listen to some stuck up even those that repress get into this conversation if it turns our you are not all altered. There are still some things to work on. They can deny the diagnoses because they don't all work off the conscious Mpd presentation by Dr Kluft and others because it is really tricky
