Needing advice on how i should proceed. My friend, we only talk online, just told me he has DID and only 1 alternate personality. What his Alter told me is that he (alter) holds his anger and fear andthe host, my friend, is a pacifist and that hes there to protect them. ive only just known this but it seems they can switch in between as desired or if i ask. Hes only 16. Apparently i am the only one he has told and i said i understand him and im here. While not the most accurate i have watched the new film split coincidentally and i think that is why I could understand, if only a small amount, what he was talking about.

do you have it it or just him? Don't take split into account.
If it's just him, treat his alter with respect he's his own person. Treat how he wants to be treated.otherwise he might decide you're no good for them.

No I don't have it and to be very honest I don't really know much about it and thats why I came here. I see that his alter is his acting guardian but while his alter seems nice and friendly, I feel like he could be quite violent. Mate said his alter almost did something violent but he stopped him, so it seems as there is a balance there,

how long has he known? If not long or if it's stressful there'll probably be more cropping up. That tends to happen when you start diving into it.

He's known for 2 years, apparently the alter is very happy about me wanting to talk to him etc. He said his alter is a blood angel so im not sure what that means. He's also just told me that some of his friends know about it because they have DID too but they have it more severe. He told me that he was bullied quite a bit in the past and I asked if he would tell me about it but said he didn't want to talk about it really, so I haven't asked him again.

Thank you for your responses. His teacher found a poem he wrote about his struggles. We talked about it and hes agreed to at least try counselling. Now I'm not sure if his alter will interact good or bad. But I'm hoping this is a step in the right direction.
