Pre - dissociative state

Just wondering the following...

Right before you dissociate into another identity, are there any signs or feelings that it is about to happen? Do you have any physical symptoms, or do you sense " so and so" is coming on?
Do you ever experience arguements between the two or more regarding who is going to be the identity on any given day/time?

feels like you're falling down and someone else is falling forward, but it really is different for everyone. and you can talk to each other and sometimes you fight, yes.

Hi sureal, thanks for the replies

Just trying to figure out what is happening with my boyfriend.
Its so hard though because i really thought I figured it out at one point. I was sure it was avpd, but now im starting to think its more serious. I see " something" is happening to him right before he goes emotionally awol. I dont know really, dissociation or maybe schitzophrenia even... but something is happening to him that resembles almost a transe state and then suddenly hes running out the door. I dont know if hes hearing voices or if hes becoming someone else, but Im almost sure something out of the norm is happening.

I also notice he answers with 2 answers quite often, they are usualy opposites when he does this. I just wish i knew what was going on with him, then atleast I'd know how to try to help.

He wont go to a dr so I'm sort of left to figure this out myself :(

Too bad your boyfriend isn't willing to see a doctor, it doesn't sound like he can figure this out or get out of this by himself :( Good that you're trying to help him though.. It's hard to give advice or help get clarity about his condition when you don't know if he hears voices or know any other symptoms from his experience.. Best of luck with this situation..!!!

"oh dear..."

I've been known to say that!

It's kinda like, if you experience chronic headaches, the feeling that hits you right before a headache. Not painful, just...like a storm coming. But then it's okay once your in the eye of the storm.

Daydreaming is a pretty good notifier for me too. Glazed kinda feeling.

Oh yeah...Best of luck with you and your boyfriend! I hope he's able to sort it all out soon. :D
-- So what then is this I?
Right now, as you read this, does it amount to anything more than a collection of thoughts and memories which are just transitory, and come and go in the mind like clouds in the sky? --

Your boyfriend should hop on this here forum, read all threads, and start posting. Also, it feels like you're floating back somewhere int your mind, while someone floats to the front. Definitely no falling here. :D

True for us as well Mike; I don't know which one of us tried to explain, but I think he/she must have meant floating, 'cause for as far as I know, it's never falling when it feels like that. We did have a period in which we simply threw the person on front over because we wanted body-time, and that was a bit of literal falling at times. Maybe that was meant by whoever wrote ?

Hi everyone, thanks again for the replies, I really appreciate your help here.

Here is what he does

Suddenly he will close his eyes and say "shh shh shh" and then if i say "what what"? Then he will say "just be quiet for a second", then I will say "why"? He wont answer or will just say shh shh shh again and he will raise his finger/hand and if i dont shush he will say "please shh shh shh" or "just wait a second please, shh shh sh" - and then he will go into a transe state where he doesnt reply for a few seconds and then he will come to in a whole other demeanor. Then he will say " I have to go" and he will run out the door and then not call me for days.

Anyway, thanks again everyone, those were good answers. Atleast I'll know what kind of things to watch for now incase this is the problem.

Hi sleepless,

Can you tell us a little about what happens after he returns from his all of a sudden 'going out' without letting you know where he is or reaching you in any way at all? Does he have amnesia for the event, does he say he wasn't in control of himself, does he remember shards but is unable to recall everything, does he feel sorry... just how is he when he returns?
What you describe does sound like there could be an alternate personality at work, but one can never be sure enough, especially if he isn't willing to get help.
