Getting gifts for Alters? **TW: Holiday-talk**

Postby Wild-Isles » Mon Dec 15, 2014 7:24 pm

It's the holiday season again, and I saw a few other threads mentioning things like alters fronting a system and asking their host's family or friends for a certain gift for the holidays.

But, does anyone here who is either the Host/or/ANP of an aware-system get gifts for your other alters they may want or ask for?

This is my system's first true-Christmas (as this is the first year I've been fully awakened to the existence of my system, via therapy). Though I've been collecting plastic-figurines for years, I now see many of them were just things my "little"-alter had me buy. But she's really been the only one who really wanted things.

For the most part, many of my alters are content as they are, and don't ask for much. But this year, I wanted to get (well, "Make" ) a gift for an alter that is very close to my heart. (The gift a set of flannel lady's pajamas, since I don't really have any women's nightwear in my wardrobe.)
Sadly, shes seen me buy the things to make the gift, so she knows, and is trying to put up a facade like she doesn't care about it, but she still watches me as I work on it. Thankfully though, the other alters don't seem to be jealous about it.

Got any system gift-shopping stories to share? Are your alters excited for the holidays?

Hey, it's very sweet. Have fun making it.

While I don't usually get holiday gifts for my alters, or me for that matter, I do try to make sure I have stuff they'll enjoy. The littler ones (Cassie and Cassidy) like to color with pencils, so I bought a nice pencil set and some adult coloring books (Since I like to do it too, it's calming, like meditation :) ) Choriandr prefers to read and to write, so I keep books she'll like on hand and notebooks, and buy pens she likes. She's picky about pens! Can't use a 50 cent bic pen, oh no! Has to be a $2+ fine point, black ink pen. Willow is kind of an enigma to us still, she claims to be a faerie, idk what you get a faerie. Carol is the hardest to keep happy because a lot of the things she'd rather do are either dangerous, or just bad for the body. We quit smoking for 6 years, and she started again. *sigh* We're trying to compromise on an e-cig.

I hope the pjs come out well and she enjoys them. :)

Thanks, Prudence! I hope so too. It's the first time using this type of sewing pattern, so I'm trying to be very careful about it.

That's really sweet to see you take such good care of your system too.

It's almost funny, really. I always just thought that my interests changed with my mood, and did what I most felt like doing at the time. Over time I figured out that it wasn't necessarily mood related. :) It also helps that (as far as I'm aware) we're all female, and we also have a lot of similar interests. This stuff probably makes it easier than for others system's. I can imagine if you have extremely different alters, or hundreds of them, or maybe different genders among the alters it's a lot harder.

Cool Choriandr. I'm like that too. I like writing with nice tools, be it sharp pencils, mechanical pencil, nice fine point pens. Anything that contributes to it looking beautiful.

Happy Holidays everybody! Hope everyone is doing well.

I'm just so excited! Host's mommy got us the shine bright pony & Catrine De'mew doll I asked for! she's very nice lady.

Little I. has been very active since we got up this morning. I somewhat Envy that level of energy. But, I guess the holiday is more for the children anyway.
Oh, and our host presented me with his gift on Christmas Eve. I told him repeatedly he didn't need to get me anything.... the fool never listens to a word I say.
He let me "front" for the rest of the evening too, which I spent relaxing in my pajamas with a nice cup of hot tea and playing digital Mahjong.

*Ahem*, I suppose the gift wasn't so worthless. The PJs are surprisingly soft and warm.... But I still don't like accepting things from people. Even other system members.
