The Pottergate Centre HELP AS WELLLLLLLLLL

Postby riverside » Wed Dec 10, 2014 1:11 pm

Hey everyone ,

Its been a long time and so much has happened. I had such a good psyc and she left and then i got a new one. The head of dept. My old Psyc told me she promice he was the best and that she would never leave me with anyone that she didnt trust and that he wasnt going anywhere for a very long time.

Well he is great at EMDR but HE KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT D.I. D

My brain, our brain just wants to explode. RANT over.

I wonder if you guys in the Uk can help me.

Has any one, i know b4 people have spoke about the pottergate centre. Well dose anyone know how much an actual SCID assesment costs'?? I am going to pay for one and then go from there.... I was wondering if any one know what an average session costs as well....

Also i have heard that the Primary Care Trusts (PCT) may fund treatment...has anyone ever had any luck with that?

any help would be great.............. feeling very alone right now.

Hey there :)

I had an initial assessment done (the free one) by the pottergate centre where you email them for the screening tests and they score it and email it back. That just tells you how likely you are to have a dissociative disorder (and you can see by your percentage which one you're closest to).

When I looked up how much the actual test is it was enormous, £1,000 if you've not had mental health treatment before and £1,500 if you have :( I can't remember where I got those figures from but it would have been somewhere official. For therapy, I think if you call the pottergate centre and ask them they'll tell you how much their sessions cost.

I gave the funding information from the clinic of dissociative studies in London to my GP to apply for the test but I've not heard anything. I'm not even sure if he's done anything. So I don't know if it's possible, although on the clinic site it says you can get nhs funding. I've never got through to them by phone and I've tried a lot of times, they're only open until 2pm I think.

There's also PODS (you might already know about them) in Huntingdon (uk) and they have a helpline open tuesdays 6-8pm. They can also give you information on therapists who can deal with DD/DID in your area. I found them really good and knowledgeable.

I hope that's of some help. I know the frustration of having a therapist who can't help with alters or DID. Mine seems to want to ignore it most of the time :?

G'luck :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to get back to me.

I am hoping that you added a couple of zero's by accident! I am so upset that Lizzy my old Psyc left to go and live in the country and do nothing!! She admited to me she knew nothing about D.I.D but was willing to learn. We learnt together.

I have not heard of PODS.. I will try them for sure. Thank you. Any help I am greatful for.

My new Shrink is now retiring and to be honest I think to egotistical to believe he doesn't know enough.
He said to me ' but we did do the dissociative table' ....in regards to a comment i made.... By this he meant when we sat in a conference room with 8 chairs him at one end me at the other and he said my alters were free to comment when they wanted....... YEAH THAT'S THE TABLE!!!!

Sorry rant again. cheers

If any one else has any information. Any help would be great.
