Okay, so first off I'm Dani and I'm the main alter. (I think you guys call them hosts. I'm new here so...) Now, for the longest time it's been me, Nielle and Ellie, but recently I've begun thinking that who I've considered as "Ellie" might not be one alter, but two. Sometimes Ellie (or what I've assumed was Ellie) is the same age as me (or maybe slightly older. I don't know, but definitely a mature teenager.) She tends to like cute clothes and pastel colors and photography and such. At other times though, she (or a different alter) acts like a little kid. She likes bright pink and dancing around and coloring and doodling and normal little girl things. So I'm not sure if they are two different alters that I've confused as one? I don't actually talk to "Ellie" much, so it's possible that I've confused her. I'm not really sure what to think, so your input would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there,
Sounds like you have two alters there and you're right one of them is a little.
It is really normal to have a little in a system.
Trigger warning
As trauma willcause splits, our first splits occur in childhood and often thing childhood.
You could elk find you have more than just one little.
Trigger over
How well in communication are you in with your system? Do you have a t? Do you journal? If not it's a great tool!
Hope that helps

We've had that a few times too. For us it was more a process of discovering them all and verifying this over time.
It's also possible for 2 of them to mix so you could think there's 3 alters but they are just 2 separate but mixed, and when together seem like a third one. We have this a lot and we're kinda used to it by now but it was sometimes difficult to figure out who that person on front actually is because of this.
But it's also possible that you might not find out that someone is a different alter for a while cause they seem alike or hide behind the other. Confusing it is.
There can actually be alters whose job it is to hide others. We've had 2 of those as far as I know. One had (has?) kids in her belly, the other posed in front of kids.

I've had DID since I was 8, but I just recently got diagnosed. I am going to start seeing a T, but I haven't yet. I try to journal daily, but some days I forget or just don't feel like it. I'm trying to get more into journaling though.

Yeah, I'm still in the process of discovering all my alters, so it's all kind of confusing for me. I'm thinking the older one might be hiding the younger one. I'm deciding to refer to the younger one as Ellie and the older one as Lee, because when I was talking to Nielle about it she told me that Ellie was here first and that she should keep the original name. Nielle wouldn't tell me anymore than that though, but it seems like she knew there was two this entire time.
