I am constantly being accused of not paying attention to my surroundings. I think I pay attention. However, something happened the other day that makes me wonder. I have a co-worker that I saw at a social gathering Saturday night. She mentioned how her eyes were hurting and how she had had to wear her glasses all day. My question to her was "You wore glasses today?". I had spent 7 hours with her Saturday at work and NEVER SAW GLASSES on her. How did I manage to miss this? Is it just me? Is it a dissociative thing? Or do I really just not pay attention? Does this happen to you and if so, how often? It happens to me ALL the time!!!!
Thanks in advance.

We were accused our whole lives of 'never paying attention' but it was really just us constantly dissociating and switching (and losing our memory of the day).
Could be a little bit not paying attention maybe? if it is, try being mindful of your day. Take the day minute by minute and try to observe and be present in the moment. If that doesn't work after a few days to weeks of trying and putting honest effort in to notice your surroundings, chances are its dissociation causing the issue.

I don't notice unimportant things...glasses, haircuts, outfits, etc.
What I do notice: where the exit is, sounds, movements, how many people are around and what they're doing, etc.
Could be dissociation. Could be priorities.

Could even be normal.

100% agree with Alt. I lose lots of details, but could tell you every minuscule one of something that did register. For us, it's about prioritizing.

There was a girl with a green (yes green) rash, and I never realised til she started talkin about skin problems.
I don t know what the reason is, maybe a part of derealisation? switching? bein spaced out?
Anyways, I recognise the feelin so no, it s not just you.
