where do the alters live?

Postby madison » Sun Apr 23, 2006 5:38 pm

I am just curious, does anyone have in their mind anything like a house or castle where each of the alters has a space?

Madison,

Hello. I've heard other DIDs talking of such things - so think it happens.

I'm still learning about my system but know i have a group who live in a cellar.

Not sure if this helps or not.

take care.

In a house, with a big porch where D & Frank hang out, and lots of doors and rooms inside. 6 of these doors are locked, the keys are put somewhere safe, so I don't accidentally unlock them.

I have a lpng hallway that is set up like a house where alters have thier own rooms. The end of the hallway is dark and that is where the ones I don't know yet live.

My experience is that my alters lived where I live. They were not happy about that and were constantly taking off and going places. The main thing that they wanted was to live separatly from my husband. He did not like most of my alters and they did not like him. Eventually I came to a place where I decided to live separately from him. He was on the mean...abusive side of things. I've lived separately from him now for 6 years. During that time I went through a lot of spontaneous integrations. I didn't want to integrate because I thought that I would miss them too much. But they still chose to go the integration way.

ALTERS LIVE?

Postby BENNY » Tue May 02, 2006 4:53 am

HI,

I NEVER REALLY THOUGHT ABOUT IT, BUT NOW THAT YOU MENTION IT, SOME ALTERS SEEM TO BE STUCK IN A CERTIAN TIME PERIOD. I GUESS THEY ARE FROM THE TIME I FIRST NEEDED THEM, IF THAT MAKES ANY SENSE. THEY KNOW IT'S NOT THEN, BUT GET CONFUSED ABOUT THE PRESENT,SOMETIMES. OTHER THAN THAT, THEY ARE ALL A PART OF ME. THEY GO WHERE EVER I GO. I KNOW THEY ARE NOT OTHER PEOPLE, BUT THEY THINK AND FEEL COMPLETELY SEPARATE, AS IF THEY WERE. THEY JUST KIND OF COME INTO MY CONSCIOUS MIND, FROM MY SUBCONSCIOUS MIND, WITH A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT OPPINION. I WISH THEY WOULD ASK PERMISSION FIRST, BUT THEY DON'T. SOMETIMES THEY ARRIVE AT THE WORST TIME AND EMBARRASS THE CRAP OUT OF ME. I WOULDN'T MIND LOCKING A COUPLE UP, BUT IT'S NOT LIKE YOU CAN GRAB ONE. I CAN ONLY TRY TO RATIONALIZE WITH THEM. HOPE THAT ANSWERS YOUR QUESTION.

BEST WISHES, BENNY

My little little ones created a treehouse with our therapist, but then it got crowded so we decided to add to our safe space. We now have bedrooms for each alter, a quiet room, a first aid room, a lock down room (good for those alters that are especially harmful), a nursery for the babies, a play ground, a play/art room, a guarded swimming pool, a crying room, an angry room, an expanded treehouse/ clubhouse, and a meeting room. We also have speakers and monitors in all of the "outdoor" spaces, and the common areas like the meeting room or the play room. The speakers and monitors help the little ones to figure out what is going on without switching out. If you want to read more on creating a safe space "Got Parts?" by: A.T.W is a fantastic how to guide on how to live with DID/MPD by someone with DID. It has been a life saver.
Good luck.

Sorry... the above was my post... just in case...
so egocentric... my my...
So what is the "me"?
My brain I suppose.
Because I have sort of a voice in my head, the part of me that thinks, that feels, that is aware that I exist at all.
