Rembering something then switching.

Postby TheKing » Mon Apr 01, 2013 3:10 pm

We keep realising something, then switching...
Then we forget what it is? But we know there's something?
Does anyone else get this? I don't think we were abused and neither does host but alot of things point that way, well almost everything does? Joey(:

Um, well, that happens to us sometimes, but it almost always relates to abuse memories... ^^';

happens to me sometimes when im about to discover something that someone doesnt want known - it could be anything really, not just pertaining to abuse. maybe pertaining to an alter that doesnt want to be known. but if thats the case, one of the ones switching out probably knows and is helping cover it up... or some gate keeper is covering it up.

but if you have parts and can switch, something definitely happened to you at some time, and it counts as abuse. neglect is a type of abuse. physical abuse. emotional abuse. and of course, *
sexual abuse[color=40BF00]*. its all abuse. and even things that dont seem so bad now could have been bad at the time that it happened. jess has that problem - thinking that the neglect she went through with her mother does not count as abuse. it does. and the bullying at school, even thou it wasnt physical bullying, it counts as abuse. you may have forgotten the worst parts of it, or something like that. but something happened, and whatever that is counts as abuse.

in summary: im sure something happened that counts as abuse and if that information is still kept from you, then there is a good chance that thats what they system is hiding from you and your known parts. but to directly answer your question, that does happen to me, and it could technically be something other than abuse that you keep forgetting. Currently experiencing this too. It makes everything so... confusing. Or should I say even more confusing. :roll: Either way, it is happening for a reason (for everyone) so maybe knowing isn't what you need right now to be ok.

Yes, this happens to me. I'm not sure what is getting lost either, and it seems like there are lots of topics of things that get lost. But a part of me says that one thing that was getting lost (less so now) was knowledge of DID.

I agree it could very well be some trauma memory. Maybe you could try to contact whoever is hiding it? Why it needs to be hidden? Maybe there is a very good reason. Maybe you're not in the position or maybe it would be too overwhelming (while you may feel prepared).

I've not had something similar. I don't know whether it's related, but I've noticed I sometimes suddenly am out front after some flashback-y thing comes (not sure whether it's a flashback, whether that actually happened, although, I think parts are starting to convince me it's happened :?). Okay. Well, not convinced yet, but apparently I have to accept it? (Whenever I try to say it's not real, or start to doubt, they're 'reminding' me again of it... via those flashback-like things).
Dx: PDD-NOS. Tested for dissociative disorders and PTSD but they say the symptoms are attributable to PDD-NOS.

This used to happen to us so so often. Thankfully it doesn't as often anymore.
