Psychomotor Therapy

Postby lifelongthing » Sun Mar 31, 2013 7:12 pm

Our T has stated she thought we might find it too triggering, but that it's up to us and that it can be very positive, when we've discussed the topic of psychomotor therapy. I'm not sure what to do about it right now, but we're considering it.

We got the keys to our new house today and with that our support network is changing. Our new routine will be our T once a week and our chiropractor every other week, as well as some other tests coming up (bone density scan, neural stuff etc) that will be taken over the course of the next 4-5 months. Considering this isn't an overwhelming amount, we're considering doing the psychomotor therapy as well.

Does anyone here have any experience with it?

No, I don't think so. Do you mean body psychotherapy?

----

I've found something about it, and maybe I've had something like that in the past. Least it was similar. I didn't feel like it helped much but people said it helped me... I guess it did? That's of a time I have barely any memories (and those that I have, are often in third person, or not clear enough to see it):

I don't know why that would trigger though (or it was really something different what I had).
If you're interested, I can tell what it was in PM.
Dx: PDD-NOS. Tested for dissociative disorders and PTSD but they say the symptoms are attributable to PDD-NOS.

It is often triggering to people because it's supposed to release the trauma stores in the body, as well as the fact that you can get touched a lot, which many might not react well to.

Not body psychotherapy no.

It's not very widespread or famous but I thought I'd ask.

Thanks.
