I hide behind my "self"

I see. I didnt even know to call my alters alter till I joined here. I just called them my "evils", or my "other", or my "persona". Or just simply my "friends".

This place is full of information You can call them what you're comfortable with though, I think most here will understand

I didn't even have to ask what an Alter was. I knew as soon as I read it. And I can lable four as alters for sure. What about "alters" that don't really do much but talk to me? What would that be called?

They might be alters that you just don't know when are out yet (that you're not co-conscious with) or they could be alters that are mostly inside I don't really know what, except for an alter, that would talk to you. Others might give you some other suggestions though

All of my Alters are conscious at the same time. Its just a question of who is in controls.

And this other "voice" doesnt have a name. Nor has it been hosting (Is that what taking control is called?). It just talks. Complains really.

So it sounds like your system is always co-conscious then. That's when more than one alter is aware of what's going on in the outside world. Co-hosting is when more than one alter is in control. You can be co-conscious and co-hosting and not be aware of it, though, but it sounds like you are, and that's a good thing. Awareness and knowledge always helps.

Host is a word to call the alter that's out in control the most, the one that handles everyday life most often.

To "front" or "be out" is to be in control of the body. So this alter/voice just talks, they don't front or come out, or at least, they haven't yet. They might over time.
