How can a cat...?

Postby Gerudo7 » Tue Jan 22, 2013 11:02 pm

Firstly, I'm not really sure exactly why I'm posting this, I'm just a bit confused right now... ^.^'''

So I was with our SO earlier, and started getting slightly switchy. Normally this isn't too big a deal and we try to just go along with it. But this time, it didn't feel like any of the ones we know, and I couldn't speak. It felt kind of like, well, an animal, the only of which we have is a cat named Schrödinger. But this would definitely be the first time he's actually come outside.
Another thing: I rarely lose time, but I definitely don't remember exactly what happened aside from the beginning of him coming out, and then waking up afterwards, aside from one tiny detail, which was in the third person.

So, I guess I'm just confused as to how the cat forced itself outside for the first time, without warning, and maybe why? I didn't even realize he could come outside at all. I thought he was just internal.

Some people/systems have animal alters. This means they can come "out" just like any other alter. This is common and normal.

Our animal alter is more half-animal. She's sometimes a full husky dog inside, but when "out" or when she's being/feeling more person-like than dog-like, she sees herself as having a human body/face, dog ears, a dog tail, and paws instead of hands/feet. (She looks like this inside, too). In fact, this half-dog, half-human "form" is how she usually looks/"is".

Ahh. Thanks. That makes sense, I guess. Still very surprising, though!

I guess the cat felt safe enough and/or strong enough to come out. What does your SO say about it?

I agree with Tomboy - we have a polar bear and a cat/panther. They can come out into the body just like any other alter. Maybe see if you and your SO could see if there's any trigger for it you can think of? Anything that doesn't usually happen or something that has happened over the course of the day? Best of luck :)

He thought it was kinda weird, but other than that, he didn't seem to think much of it in particular.

For anyone reading this and not understanding what's the deal with the name:
Schrödinger's cat (**I don't think so, but just in case, this might trigger. Contains (imaginary) animal cruelty**)
It's a thought experiment used in quantum mechanics.
Dx: PDD-NOS. Tested for dissociative disorders and PTSD but they say the symptoms are attributable to PDD-NOS.

Sorry for reviving this post, just figured I'd share since I think I've got it figured out:

It seems like it's actually just as simple as Schrödinger wanting someone to play with. And, seeing as he's one of the people we feel okay to switch around (most of the time we feel paranoid that someone will notice if we switch), it makes sense that he keeps trying to play with our SO

Thanks for the update! Glad you found that out about Schrodinger. :) It makes sense. I think a huge reason why a lot of my alters have surfaced recently is because I/we feel so safe around my boyfriend, and he's been so accepting of everyone, so that only increases how safe we feel (I think sometimes alters watch or hear about someone else being accepted or something, and then realize that it's safe for them to surface too, or think maybe they'll be accepted too since someone else was, or something like that).
