Twitching

Postby ManyShadesOfMe » Fri Jan 11, 2013 12:55 pm

I was reading through the Communication Between Alters thread the other day http://www.psychforums.com/dissociative-identity/topic104729.html and someone had mentioned that they communicated with their alters through twitching before other parts could hear each other. It really stuck out to me, so I tried it, and I think it works!

I seemed to be able to ask yes and no questions by having them either make my legs twitch or my arms. I showed my husband yesterday how I could get specific body parts to twitch, like my fingers and my face, so he could actually see it. I'm not sure about him, but I know I'm pretty impressed!

I was wondering if anyone else has used twitching as a way to communicate, and your experiences with it? I think I'm just looking for things I could watch out for. For example, the last couple days I've done this, only my right side would twitch. When I showed my husband this last night my left arm was doing some twitching and it didn't do that before. So, I'm thinking maybe it's a different alter answering?

I've also noticed, I start doing some light twitching when I get onto the forum now, and also sometimes during conversations with my husband like maybe they have something to say about what ever we're talking about.

So, I'm really curious to see where this twitching thing might go, I'm just not sure what to try and be aware of. I would've never thought to use twitching as a way to communicate!

It seems really cool to me. So the other day I tried asking inside when I felt my right side twitch, and it turned out to be an alter who had a problem with some current life trouble that has been going on, cause the twitching had been going on for days, possibly longer, and when I started talking to her it stopped. So I guess it works, but I've only tried it this one time.

That's interesting. I've only tried it a few times the last few days, but it seems to be consistent. I used to get the usual twitches before this, like my finger would twitch or my eye. This feels different though. Like an electrical feeling too it, or a slight tingle. I've never felt it like that before. I've never had it all over, or on my feet, or my back....that I'm aware of anyway.

Idk, it could just be a very odd coincidence and it might be some other disorder of some sort. I just don't think anyone can consciously make themselves twitch in certain spots, and make it stop in others.

We have tried this too. I did it with Anastasia, I believe, back when I hardly even knew what my DID diagnosis meant. It worked but was a long process (mostly because of denial). I haven't tried it much after that but I get random twitches sometimes still and I think sometimes it's alters, but I'm not sure. Good luck with this :)

Honestly, I'm still skeptical about it, or maybe partially in denial...I'm not sure. At the same time I'm pretty impressed, though. I'd imagine it would be along process....seems like everything having to do with DID is just one long process after another.

I think I really need to also start paying more attention to the impressions or emotions I get too. I still find myself a lot of time, blowing everything off as usual. :?

twitching of my mouth has been getting more adn more often for about two months. IT seems to want me to stop talking or change the subject. The other day in public at a store with an emplyee, my mouth twitched adn a deeper voice spoke. Well We dont seem to have a clue who this is or what was said. We are in the process of tryingto slow things down, so I am not pursering it with much effort, but I am curious how this related to my DID world. Also about 4 months now, at night differetn parts think stuff until we fall asleep... about 6 times a night I remember as my head jerks abruptly adn the train of thought changes . I know thi isnt exacatly what the topic was about, but it made this phenomena come to mind

I think most of us have been there, just blowing things off. I'm trying not to now but I know it happens sometimes still. It's a good thing to be conscious of though :)

I don't believe I've ever had my mouth twitch, that would feel weird! Interesting someone else spoke when that happened!

I've also had the body jerks at night. I'd get the mind chatter that would seem to keep me stuck in a half in half out of sleep state for most of the night. I figured it was bc my mind was so active I could really fall asleep. I also figured the body jerks were just a reaction from being stuck in this state. The mind chatter were like voices, they were loud, but seemed to be on the other side of a wall. So, no matter how much I tried to hear what they were saying it was rare for me to actually hear what they were saying. I could hear different voices, and could tell there was a dialog going on between these voices, but could rarely hear what they were saying.

I think most of us have been there, just blowing things off. I'm trying not to now but I know it happens sometimes still. It's a good thing to be conscious of though

It's like a really bad life long habit that seems almost impossible to break. I'm so used to blowing things off and forgetting about things, I'm having a hard time not doing that. Sometimes I'll think back on something and realize how important it was and wonder why I didn't think at the time to pay attention!

The body jerks I'd get when I'd hear them wasn't too bad though.

A few weeks ago I think one of the alters were trying to show me a traumatic memory, the others didn't agree and was trying to stop it. I thought it was just nightmares, but my whole body was jerking all over the place for about an hour. Never had it that bad before!

Ah! My mind is blown. Sarah has always been a pretty twitchy person... Sometimes she gets in a trance and her leg twitches and she wakes up to realize something important is going on? Like someone else was there and they told her to come out so she could handle things herself. That's really cool!
