Hello, i have recently switched from escitalopram(lexapro) to citalopram and will only be doing so for 2 days, is that alright? So i will be taking citalopram, and after 2 days, i will be taking escitalopram regularly and no more citalopram. I visited the doctor, and he said it was ok, but i still have fears about the short term change, and if there will be any bad side-effects from it. Thank you.

Jim,
It is okay so long as it has been prescribed by your doctor. I must advise you that self-medicating can lead to problems that you may not be capable of recovering from by yourself.
Kevin.

Thanks for the re-assurance, my experience currently is tolerable, so no more worries i guess.

I have switched back and forth between them many times. My doc always had samples of Lexapro and would give them to me while waiting for me to get my Celexa (citalopram) filled.
They are pharmaceutically very similar. The dosages are not the same, though, so make sure you take the right amount of each.
Best,
N
