is anyone on viibryd

Postby DangerousType » Sat Jan 12, 2013 7:21 pm

My psychiatrist wants to take me off Paxil and put on me on Viibryd but it's only been on the market for 2 years. I don''t like to take anything that hasn't been on the market for at least 5 years. I was wondering if anyone here is on it or tried it and if it works?

Thanks

I was on Viibryd for approximately 6 months. I didn't like it as well as Zoloft. I don't remember there being many side effects with it. When first taking it I had some headaches. There was as is with every other one the sexual side effect.

When I stopped taking it I did so without doing it gradually. Because of that I did experience what they call brain zaps. They weren't so much painful as very uncomfortable.

I had never experienced that withdrawing from any other.

Everyone responds differently to medication so it may work differently for you. I was at one time on Paxil and Buspar together and they made me nausea. I eventually had to change.

Best to you.

Hi there!
My husband has been on Vibryd and while it is a new drug, it is a very clean drug. He sees a very respected psychiatrist who feels that the drug is right for him. His psychaitrist is is trying it in combination with other drugs. Right now the cocktail that seems to work is Vibrid plus Wellbutrin. I myself am a Zoloft girl, so don't have any direct experience with the drug, but as my hubs is mildly bipolar, I can say that it is the best drug for him and has drastically improved his outlook on life. I also hear that Pristique is similarly helpful as Vibryd. Good luck to you in finding what works! :D

Did you decide to try it? I was given the starter pack and am so leary with starting it.
I'm a nurse but that certainly didn't stop me from takin paxil and weaning off from it is pure hell.
I've done a ton of reading and while I'm not sure that everything I read is true, some sites and books say that it is similar to paxil in it's makeup and a few molecules were swapped around and WALA a new med that you can't get generic for a few years.

I've read both good and bad about it and when i looked up the withdraw symptoms of viibryd are almost exactly the same as paxil (i.e. brain zaps, confusion, etc).
One huge thing I see everywhere is to not drink alcohol when taking this med. Apparently it can be a huge mistake. I'm not a depressed person, i love my life (truly). I just have really bad anxiety which leads to heart problems from the stress I'm putting my body under. I know everyones body is different but if the withdraw is anything like paxil i do not want it :(

Let me know how it's done so far!

I was on viibryd for 8 months, I had always felt the dosage was too high and, now I see many others feel the same and the dosing is or was under investigation. Contrary to some ill founded media babble about little or no sexual side effects, I found viibryd to be the worst offender of any AD I've taken. It completely shut down my libido and gradually started numbing my smell, taste, touch, emotions, and almost every aspect of enjoyment I had before taking the drug.
