Do i have despersonalization?

Postby dav234za » Sun Nov 30, 2014 7:05 am

i have been feeling this way for 1 year now, it started when i smoked weed (it wasn't the first time, but that time i smoked a lot more than usual) and a felt really anxious. what i feel is like my mind is not in my body, i have to ''drag'' my mind to the moment i am living. i cant make new friends, and relation with my old friends is getting weaker. i can't behave naturally in public, sometimes feel like people is watching and judging me and when i talk with someone i feel really uncomfortable and watch myself from the other person perspective. i went to the psycologist and was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. i read the symptoms of despersonalization and some of them match me. can i suffer from despersonalization and social anxiety?

In my experience depersonalization is almost always a symptom of another disorder. In my case I get it along with Depression and/or Stress.
Based on many accounts I have read it is also often triggered by drug use especially weed, and smokers of weed can get trapped in depersonalization for long period even after they have stopped smoking.

So the diagnosis you got "depression and anxiety" sounds reasonable. Saying you have depersonalization disorder would be kind of like saying you have suicidal thought disorder. These are both symptoms of a larger disorder. Trying to cure the symptoms does not do any good unless you treat the underlying disorder.

I have never smoked weed so I do not understand its side effects or how to purge them later. Seems like there are many you-tube videos about this so they might help. Guess the weed frees the mind and in some people it stays free and has trouble becoming grounded again afterwards. So sounds like weed doesn't agree with your mind-body.
