Hey,
I'm wondering if anyone has any links or books that talk about DPs relationship to trauma? Do you feel like your DP is related to a traumatic event?
I do for mine but interested in if other people also think this.

DP can be caused by a number of things, Trauma is the most common cause for pathological dissociation, but it can also be rooted in other disorders, anxiety, stress, or any number of things (from what my therapist told me and what my own research has turned up), All in all it tends to be best to talk to a P-doc or therapist about it, as they are the most up to date and can provide accurate diagnoses.

I don't have DP but I think I have a different dissociative disorder. Closer to DID but more likely along the lines of DD-NOS. DP does have some ties to trauma. Primarily emotional abuse type trauma. Anxiety and some drugs can also cause it. Here's a link:

Have you watched harris harringtons program? it talks all about trauma and how it caused this disorder and how it ultimatley cures this dirsorder. ive been watching it and i can say its helped me recover and get to a point where i feel like my self again somtimes and i dont feel nothing 247/ Feel free to pm me if you wana talk about it or w.e. Im always down to talk to a felow dp suffer. adding my skype would be the best way to contact me cause i dont use this forum much.
