I've had severe dp/dr for a while now with only a few breaks from it. I'll like to try and get on top of it by trying to avoid things that may trigger me.
What triggers you? Thankyou

Fluorescent lighting. Especially in stress evoking situations...doctor offices, 12-step meetings, schools, white walled offices. I'll focus on the droning sound and seeing purpley auras (light when a camera flashes) and off I go to my LaLaLand.

Thanks for replying

Funny you should mention the purpley aura thing, I've always had that but never realised it had anything to do with dp/dr. I agrees with the triggers you mentioned, it's hard to avoid those though isn't it

I honestly don't know if it does. It's interesting that you could relate to that and recognize it as a trigger or yourself too. Sometimes, Novocaine at the dentist, oh...I'm terrified of eye drs so, maybe that too. That numbing, sensation from LSD or pot too makes me depersonalize. Never opiates, though

It's a strange one, I'll talk to my T about it in our next session. I find that I dissociate ALOT when I really really need to be normal :') like an important appointment or event. I dissociate all the time but stress makes it 10x worse. I really want to be able to mange it but i don't know how.
My brother finds that he depersonalises when smoking pot so he stopped and has never felt that way since, that was a year ago!
