Lying Issue

Hi, I have lied for about a year or two about going to the USMC and I don't think my friend can forgive me because I'm an idiot and not even god can forgive me. I need help, he's like a best friend to me and I'm truly sorry about lying to him it's so hard just to maintain lying even thought I'm surprised it's lasted this long. I just stay @ my house and barely came out side and that's why he thinks it's so true I guess, it's pissing me off though I should have never lied and it's crazy so what should I do, avoid contact?
