What to tell people about my past?

Hi,

I have always been very shy and I think that maybe the reason I started lying. In high school I told my mom that I was very popular had a boyfriend and friends,...Don't want to tell mom that the things were lies. I am finally starting to go to college and worried about meeting people.

Do I tell people in the futher? What do I tell them about my past? I mean how do I act like I had friends, popular? Or the truth...that I was very shy no friends, dates? But what happens if the 2 collide they are going to have different versions of the "truth".

Just something I've been worried about for awhile. What do you think?
