Therapist and pills ?

My friend with undiagnosed BPD went to someone who gave her anti-depressants and sleeping pills. I had a hunch that DBT would be better for her as she hates pills for now. I just want to ask other BPD's if their therapists also give them pills in the first meeting ?

I'm in a similar situation. I'm undiagnosed and I've only recently started therapy; only been to two appointments. DBT is the go to treatment for BPD. Medication is commonly prescribed as well; anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds are pretty commonly prescribed. I'm currently not on medication and my therapist hasn't even brought it up as an option, the only thing she's talking about is DBT. However, I'm not against medication and I'm going to bring it up to her on my next appointment.

Just so you know, Therapists don't prescribe medication. Only Psychiatrists do. Some psychiatrists also practice as therapists, so they can do both but that is rare.
