Recently diagnosed BPD

Postby metamorph » Wed Aug 01, 2012 9:57 pm

Well was recently diagnosed with BPD I also have other problems on top of that. The thing is as of yesterday the clinic I was going to said that they couldn't help me any more because I cant stop drinking. And told me I needed to get treatment before they can help me any further. Anyways I've tried treatment in the past but usually end up freaking out and leaving before its completed. Right now I don't have a job, I have trouble holding one down, no insurance etc., so I can't afford any meds let only a therapist. Don't have hardly any support feeling kinda lost on what to do, I guess it is what it is. Not really sure what I'm looki

Do you find that it's a constant trigger that freaks you out, in treatment? It sounds like that may be the keystone, here. We figure out how to keep you cool in treatment, you can get back into the clinic, and maybe figure out what's stopping you from holding a job.

I know how hard it is, but you may need to try to stop drinking, even just for a little while. I know it'll suck something fierce, but if it'll show the clinic that you're taking steps to improve yourself and you're making some progress, maybe they'll let you back in. Just a thought...

As for support, welcome to your digital support group. We're a pretty understanding bunch here, so feel free to ask, laugh, cry, rant, or whatever else your heart desires!

Thanks man I've got 12 days sobriety right now been working with a sponsor atm. I've been trying to sober up since I was 20 years old will be 30 next week, to me alcohol is just a symptom to mask the pain of BPD. I'm a blackout drinker, when I drink my goal is to drink as much as I possibly can so that I do not feel my intense emotions. Drinking has caused me a host of problems, trouble with the law, homelessness etc. I've been doing a bit of reading on BPD and c-ptsd which I also have, and read that treating the BPD is the first choice.
