Notice from a Mod: Regarding Recent Events

Postby Casper » Fri Jun 08, 2012 1:23 pm

I know there have been some triggering comments of late and we have had people reacting to them. For that, I do apologize. Ali and I do our best to keep inciting comments to a minimum, and making sure that any legitimately triggering topics are labeled as such.

I know that a few of you have mentioned that you are considering leaving over recent events. I hope you reconsider. The mods and admins have been talking about recent events, and steps are being taken to ensure that inciting remarks are kept to a minimum.

One thing I ask you to be aware of is that people from other sections don't necessarily share the same thresholds that we do. We could read something and be sent into a massive tailspin, while someone else can read the same thing and wonder how the Red Sox did last night. I'm not saying that being triggered is our own fault, because it's not! All I'm asking is that you realize that not all triggering comments are intentionally triggering. (This is part of that DBT, putting yourself in other people's shoes thing.)

Remember, if anyone here has any problems, you're always free to PM myself or MissAli. Whether you're a BPD, a non, from another section, or from another planet*, I don't care. If you have a problem with something in this section, talk to us. After all, our job is to make sure that you are comfortable being here.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled therapy, already in progress... :D

JB.

*Bonus points if you're from another planet and can work "Earth-shattering kaboom" into the conversation.
