Birthdays and the mayhem

Postby maximus » Fri Mar 30, 2012 2:02 pm

So I just had my birthday and it got me thinking about my previous birthdays and how each one had really extreme events around them, either just before or just after. I don't know what it is about my birthday and why such extreme events occur around it...

My birthday this year: had a massive fight with a family member just a few days beforehand, effectively getting kicked out of my current place, moving out a week after my birthday

My birthday last year: had a mental breakdown about a week or even less after my birthday. Ended up having to see a doctor for a referral to a psych, told the doctor I suffered from major depression for at least the past 8 years, the doctor told me I was clinically depressed and referred me to a psych speciailising in personality disorders

My 21st birthday: noticed that I had lesions on my body, went the doctor on the day of my actual birthday and was diagnosed with an std (a pleasant birthday present), something I still have to this day. It's a virus so it will probably never go away.

:(

I hate birthdays because people use it as a way to make a big deal but just being another day we so happen to turn a year older its a normal day everywhere else and anything can happen.
I send you the best of wishes for the future though and love from an anonymous person.

If its any consolation i have spent my 16th birthday in hospital, i had past family problems and was ignored on my 19th birthday, spent it out of the house because i was not liked at that stage at home for things, my 18th my dad didn't talk to me and i didn't go out and have a big 18th.
My 20th was ok... then the rest became better family wise but important friends have not wished me a happy birthday etc and i usually don't go out and party anymore.

Did you get anything nice at least ??

Hi maximus...

I am sorry that your birthdays seem to have been disastrous - because with what you have described - they absolutely have been.

My birthdays used to always equal some sort of disappointment to me, and I'm not sure why. I dont' know if its some fear of getting old, or that I have expectations that I'm not living up to?

Regardless, I wish I had more to say in a constructive fashion, but the truth is - I agree with you. Birthdays can be more depressing the the grayest day on earth.

I have recently in the past year or two started having more fun and relaxed birthdays, but I think that's because I'm getting OLD.

I'm sorry about the STD on your bday though... that really f'in sucks.
