or covert nay? meaning expressing approval, with inner disapproval.

Of course this can apply to any social group.

I have a friend who confides in me, she says she ends up in casual situations she feels loved cared for but it is short lived and then self punishes herself because she feels her behavior brings it on and she dose not feel loved for her inner beauty ( exterior wise she is very attractive but I feel she is beautiful at her core also ). I believe she has a internal punitive parent schema haunting her. So I am wondering can others relate here. and if so did you did you overcome it and if you did how did you go about it?
can you help me out here?
